Have you called the local GL rep about the damage? They may tell you to pack sand but if you know it was done after you paid for them, file the claim anyway. Worst case scenario you waste a bit of time.
Those must be southern trucks...no heater but more importantly NO rust. Very nice...
I don't know squat about turning up the fuel but I've run across several posts on here that talk about it. The TM's may explain it some but then again they don't want everyone tweeking the trucks in the field so maybe it's not covered.
If you go to the search function and try a few diff...
Biggles, about the only way that they will be happy and therefore quicker is to scan and email. The GL website list fax as acceptable and yet it isn't. I've told them twice that they should correct that and save all the new guys a step. Once you've done it once you know not to fax it again...
I too have heard the shipping comments. Some ILNG trucks hit the system. I was excited thinking I could pick some up locally. No such luck. They told me that every one was shipping to Alabama. I'm assuming Redstone. The Govt will spend more on logistics than they will get out of the trucks.
IHASFIP
You could haul a house w/that setup.
You may spend a year on here going back and forth with buy private / buy GL etc. My 1st deuce came from a local FD that had turned this truck into a parade machine. It is beautiful and was "well maintaned". I put about 30 miles or so on the...
I've learned my lesson from your experience. No more oil changes for me. I know my govt and they build good stuff. If these engines will run on Johnny, Jack, Jim and Jose then they should run with old oil. I'll throw it an oil filter or two every few years and clean out the "debris"
If by some chance your EUC clears prior to me going out there, I would be happy to load your truck on a flatbed. We would obviously have to do some major time sinc as it is a bit of a cluster. It would be do able.
Disclaimer
The only major snag is I may not be able to get off to go for the...
AtankersDad: did you drive to Iowa to preview those trucks? If so you are dedicated. I won some of them and only live 4 hours away and I'm trailering them...you and the boys were driving back to MD. If you have the will thats great but how does your backside take that?
Biggles: my first...
I feel much better about our govt. design specs. knowing that this may be how it is suppose to work.
I feel much worse about my maintenance as something has caused mine not to perform per govt. desing specs.
Thanks for taking the time to test your trucks. Did you put someone inside during...
Not sure if the link posted did any good or any harm to lot 7513 but that is the truck I referenced in my previous post. I went to bid on it but it was already over $3K. I looked one last time and it passed the $4K mark. No idea what it finished at but wow.
If the lucky bidder of this truck...
Well Biggles, did you win?
I did but not the one I really wanted. They had a AF truck there and being my wife and I both former AF I thought I'd buy it and give to her with one big SURPRISE...HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!.
I didn't get that one so now I guess I'll just have to take the beating...
Awesome comments. It can be done as I proved it with my son sitting in the truck. I was hoping that if you locked the handle and then shut the door it would auto unlock...not the case. As well as these are designed and purpose built, I can't imagine why the heck they would have done that...
I noticed one of my kids locked the door on the deuce. I went around to the other side and got in so no problem. Then it hit me, what if the other door was locked. How do you get in a hard top deuce w/both doors locked? Without using a PFH.
I searched 6 different ways and couldn't find a...
In a nut shell, I start the truck then push the bottom right knob (which is spring loaded )into the up position and hold it there w/ my left middle finger and slide the top switch all the way to the right w/my thumb. My Dad can't use his fingers very well anymore and that is how I showed him how...
Very nice looking setup. You are now my hero. You have lots of toys, a great looking shop and a beautiful setting. I couldn't bring myself do do anything but make parts runs if I lived there.
I need tires in the worst way. I can't buy any b/c I keep seeing stuff like this and can't decide...
I know I should have put a pic but I screwed it up the 1st time. In the pic you can see the top of the tank. On the passenger side it looks like the tank is higher but that is just hose storage racks.
Also note the square roll bar they installed. I like to know there is now something higher...
I purchased my truck w/a 1,000 gl water tank from the FD. They used it for 12 years ish off road as their brush truck. They ended up replaceing a tranny and having the TC repaired. I'm told both were driver in-deuced (pun intended). My tank only goes about 8 inches higher than the bed rail...
This thread is well timed. We are picking up a M105A2 next week and plan to use a Civi Chevy Silv. Is there any "gotchas" to watch out for? I've read several posts about the brakes and single v/s double line but I'll admit I don't know squat about these trailers as this is my first.
I'm...
