If you remove the IP return line and fitting and turn your electric fuel pump on do you get a steady flow of fuel without air bubbles ? If there are air bubbles there it won't run and you won't be able to bleed the air out of the system.

Spin on filters are 10X better IMHO. I have no problems with my trucks with spin ons. I only have 2 trucks with the box style filters that work properly. All others with box filters have problems. They are getting converted. BTW 82 trucks had the water sensor in the fuel tank.

Looks good, the filter you are using looks like the primary filter used on the 1982/83 6.2 diesels. They also used a secondary filter mounted on the intake manifold. I am not sure of the micron rating. I have also been gathering parts for this swap. My Napa said they don't have listings...

I know what you mean Scott. I have an 1982 K10 with 270,000 miles on it. I have owned it since 1997 and again no IP problems. I have a 1985 M1010 with 30,000 miles and it needs its IP. It has the disintergrating retainer problem- plugging up the return check valve.

The original 1985 and older IP had a retainer that broke down with some of the fuels used by the military. Thats the only IP problems I have had.

The detents are not in the column. They are in the transmission itself. The selector plate on the inst. cluster is the only thing you would change, But it is not really necessary.

I have never had a problem with picking up items. It's with headquarters. You can call and get an answer, call 10 minutes later get someone else and get a different answer.

Most auto parts stores have a selection of bushings. Even pin and bushing sets. Usually you can also find oversize Outside diameter bushings if your hindge itself is worn. Enlarge the worn hole to fit the oversize bushing in and your hindge is like new.
