If its sluggish could be the transmission not shifting at the right times. There is a linkage cable behand the doghouse that you can adjust if need be. My m998 had that issue, the cable was stretched over time and it was starting in second gear. Tightened it up and its like it gained 50hp.
So interestingly my m1151 does this as well, but zero other issues. Just the rear evap fan kicks off every once in awhile, then turns back on after a minute. The front fan stays on and nothing else on the truck malfunctions. It seems weird that something with the start box could cause this...
I'm not positive about the m1165, but I know m1151's use a different windshield retainer than an m998. It's very similar, but its thicker aluminum and the holes are in different locations. It attaches with bolts, not self tapping screws.
If your windshield frame has threaded inserts I would...
FYI, Mac Motors has OEM headlinders in stock. They are a little pricey (I was quoted somewhere between 350-400 for the 4 pieces that go around the turret hole) but it will be the right thing and you wont have to cut anything yourself or mess around with templates.
Also, the front passenger...
I searched and couldn't find an answer to this question...but is it normal that the dash lights do not illuminate my 80 MPH speedometer? Is there supposed to be an internal light in the speedometer itself? At night I can see all my gauges except the speedometer.
I would think at least the frame and body, but you're probably right that almost everything is is outsourced. I wouldn't make sense to make engine parts, ball joints, etc.
I'm told they still make X-doors in batches, but they only make the front and not the rear, and they are stupid expensive.
Yeah, the few times I had issues with stuff from Mac Motors, they immediately remedied the situation. I highly doubt that Mac Motors is buying stuff from China. I assume that even AM General doesn't make everything in-house. They probably have vendors (and multiple vendors for the same part) and...
I'm not sure, but my m1151 was FULL of old wires from removed equipment. I've been slowly removing it all over time.
Generally the wires that are used for the actual truck are black. If you find a colored wire thats disconnected at both ends I would rip it out, but thats just me.
Don't forget the runflat if you choose to keep them installed. Swapping them from one tire to another seems to be a chore. Also, I would NOT expect the balance to just be okay. Every balanced military wheel I've seen has a HUGE amount of weights on it.
That wasn't my experience. I called around to several commercial truck tire places, they wont touch it. It's an issue with both the split rims and the runflats.
Whatever you do, dont look at the giant coolant thread here. You'll come out with more questions than answers 🤣
The TM says green ethylene glycol, so thats what I used.
