What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

In the past week I have swapped the old extended windshield wiper arms for new standard arms, installed brand new mirrors, fixed the air conditioning, serviced the battery terminals, bolted in one of the rear seats, got my speedometer working (it was just unplugged), fixed a headlight that was...

M1151 front AC not working - $10 fix

You know, that brings up an interesting point. With the new style, its either on or off, there is no in between. With the cable style, you can use it like a mixing valve. So by partially opening the valve you could allow a little heat into the system, giving you full control over the temperature...

M1151 front AC not working - $10 fix

Yeah, the actuator is definitely shot. The valve itself seems okay-ish, but it actually doesnt seal up all the way in the closed position. I completely removed it and moved it open and closed with my fingers. In the closed position I can still blow through it, so it will definitely let some...

M1151 front AC not working - $10 fix

I'm posting this in case it helps someone else. When I got my M1151 from gov planet it was listed as "AC compressor doesnt engage." To my surprise the compressor worked fine, but it only blew cold for the rear AC. The front AC blew at ambient temperature, gradually getting hotter as the vehicle...

Looks cool as hell though! I think that's all that matters.

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

New belt was visibly longer than existing belt, and went on without a hitch!

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

I got a new belt from Mac Motors today that is apparently 112" long. That's almost certainly longer than what was on there. We'll find out tonight if it fixes the issue!

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

I'm really thinking wrong belt. The routing diagram is right on the truck and it was definitely routed correctly.

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

I got the belt completely off, pulled it into a straight line and it measures about 54.25" long. So just over double that length puts it around 110" or so in circumference I suppose.

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

    Its an M1151a1

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

This is how I received the truck from gov planet so who knows. I've only had it for a few weeks and the engine has run for a total of about 10 minutes.

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

Yes its on wrong because its not long enough to go on right. It was underneath of that idler pulley before I had the alternator fully bolted in. Dont worry I'm not running the engine this way.

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

Okay I checked the entire length of the belt and there are no markings. Picture of inside of belt attached.

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

As you can see, even after bypassing an idler pulley its still tight as a banjo string. This is with the alternator fully bolted in, and the tensioner barely has any travel left. I dont see any markings on the belt but I havent fully removed it to check the whole thing yet.

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

I'll look for a number, that should have been the first thing I did. But yes its "cogged" with cross hatch looking pattern. Currently trying to get multiple small children to sleep so I'll check tomorrow.

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

Also my truck came from Yermo with a note on it that said "no belt," but it did come with a belt. I wonder if they just threw whatever they could find on there and unbolted the alternator to make it fit.

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

On the hummer parts guy website they have 3 different belts, one says its for the 400 amp alternator and is slightly shorter. I wonder if thats what I have? 110.91 inches: https://www.hummerpartsguy.com/BELT-SERPENTINE-HMMWV-400AMP-WITH-FIXED-PULLEY-11091-IN_p_26748.html 112.95 inches...

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

I should clarify, I was able to pop the belt off one of the idler pulleys and create enough slack to secure the alternator. But now I can't get the belt back on, its as if its too short. The tentioner is completely maxed out. I did some more googling, and it looks like there may be 2 variations...

    Okay, and then what? Lol

Serpentine belt tensioner out of adjustment?

I looked in the TM's and googled the issue but couldnt find an answer. My M1151a1 was received from govplanet with the alternator not fully bolted in. I'm trying to add the last bolt, but the problem is that I cant get enough slack out of the belt to move it into position. Is there some other...
