What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Changed insurance companies from State Farm to Geico. The former said " Hey, that is a Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle, so it has to be insured as a commercial truck. Pfffft.

So, what's the one thing you'd change?

I will be contrary and suggest fewer fora, not more. Where is that left-hand thread lugnut forum again ? Because there are 87 now, not counting the TMs. Thats why. But, since its all about me and what interests me the most, I would propose a forum for tan, 8 cylinder vehicles with 4 wheels.

    My M109a3 RV conversion

For air con I used a vertical, roll-around unit from Lowe's. I removed the ventilator motor that is next to the rear door on the driver side, plumbed the hot air exhaust duct to there. Works great. Runs off a generator placed outside.

    My M109a3 RV conversion

Welcome to the madness :) The temptation, because the box is so big, is to put too much stuff in it. Keep us informed of your progress.

    Merc1973's First Deuce Build Thread

When I changed the oil for the first time in the 1966 M109A3, I put a 5 gallon pail under the drain plug then pulled the plug. Thats how I learned that the crankcase holds 6 gallons.....oooops.

    SF 97 & Arizona DMV

I used the s/n from the data plate on the dash of my M35A3. Its not a 17 digit VIN but nobody cares. In AZ if it has 3 axles then its a commercial truck. DMV inspectors are getting wise: A camper body on a commercial truck is still a commercial truck.

LSSV clone build sorta kinda but not really

One feature that I really liked about the CUCV Blazer was the lack of a center console. I know some guys modify commercial Walmart consoles and ammo cans to fit that space, but I like the openness and easy pass thru to the rear seating area. The Avalanche has a center seat/console that isn't...

I like that. Commercially available bars or did you have to custom fab ?

LSSV clone build sorta kinda but not really

Probably wouldn't even have to wash it, huh ? Looking for parts that swap directly to achieve "the look". Yeah, it would be a short-bedded imposter, but thats OK.

LSSV clone build sorta kinda but not really

Oh, am not new to MVs, I had n M109A3, then a CUCV Blazer (the red one with the window cages), and currently own an A3. The Blazer taught me some things that lead me to the Avalanche mod preference :)

LSSV clone build sorta kinda but not really

So I have this Avalanche with blingy wheels and running boards......I'm not a fan of chrome-plated sissy trucks.....am driven to do SOMETHING. I like the idea of taking some design cues from the LSSV : wheels + bumpers + colors. Like the one pictured.
