I found the braking problem. The master cylinder is the issue. I pulled the master and found it full of goo in the bottom. This is keeping the fluid from returning to the resevior causing a lock up of the wheel cylinders. I also found a wet front brake line and replaced that as well. Brakes...
I've had this same issue when I got my first deuce. It was air in the lines. Make a power bleeder (plenty of threads on this topic) out of a garden sprayer and bleed the heck out of the system. I ran at least a quart of brake fluid thru the truck before getting the pesky air pockets out of...
Zach,
Like others have said, the Deuces are pretty much gone from the auction sites. You'll be better off buying your first from a private seller. Read up on the TMs so you'll know what to look for and how to properly handle this beast.
Welcome to the site. Oh, just so you know, it won't be long before you have your deuce. Once you get bit by the MV bug, there's no turning back.
If the fluid doesn't return, I would think it's either not enough pedal free play (1/4") or the small return hole which allows the fluid to flow back into the master is clogged. You can clean that hole with a piece of wire. I had this problem in my Duece and that was the issue.
Step #1 going thru the brakes
Tore into the wrecker's brake system yesterday. Man, are they making the tires heavier each year??? It certainly can't be me  I found several lug nuts very loose and some were super tight. The robo impact works good on everything but the super tight ones...
Mark,
I stumbled across an NOS master cylinder at Tower Park last year for $5.00...so I'm good if the master is shot.
I see that one of the storage boxes is a bit tweaked and won't open with the crane in it's current position. I'll be studying the TMs for quite sometime before I get her on...
wrecker arrived today
The wrecker arrived today. It does take a bit to start but otherwise, sounds and runs good. I drove her around the property and settled it next to the house. Next set is get the brakes to work...power bleeder do your stuff.
Looks like I'm joining the "wrecker owners" club. Thanks to NF6X "Mark" I'm the proud new owner of this M543A2 wrecker. She's on her way to Nor. Cal. and I should get it on Tuesday. More pics to come as I begin the resto project. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions.
There is a car/plane show in Vacaville on Oct. 13th. I'll be there along with Five Ton Larry.
Here is a link to more info on G503.

When i rebuilt my truck, i found my hinges bent from being opened hard. While the hinges are out, take the hinges to a work bench and pound them back to their proper shape. they should fold together very nicely. Once I did that, my doors close perfectly and latch with little effort.
Blisters,
if you are looking for an M35A2 ww, you should look at Will Wagner's. it's for sale in the classifieds and is a very nice truck...and a great price for it's running condition.
