I'll try to answer some of your questions.
I've seen a forklift at the Tower park marina so there may be a way to get you that support. If i have the wrecker restored by then I could also help with it but no promises.
It does run all week. I'll be there Thurs thru Sat and leave Sunday morning...
AJ,
I shot my trucks with Sherwin Williams water-based 2 part CARC and don't remember it being that soft after 5 days. Although, it was much warmer when I shot my trucks (highs in the 90s and sunny skies).
Some may not like this suggestion but here goes.
I just replaced my M.C. on the M543A2 the fluid was questionable about whether it was DOT 3 or DOT 5. After replacing the M.C., I hooked up my power bleeder and bled the system thru all the wheels and lines and flushed the system with a gallon...
One successful recovery (m818 towed to a friends house) with no issues. I'm reupholstering the interior right now. Next I'll tackle the cab interior. Spring time brings fresh paint to the exterior. Wiring issues etc inbetween.
Tackled reupholstering the wrecker cab and crane cockpit seats. The crane control cockpit didn't have any cushions but I could make out the shape from stains on the paint. The cab had frames but needed reupholstery.
I fabricated the seat bottoms from 3/4" plywood. Primed and painted. I...
My friend, "five ton Larry", won an M818 from Barstow. Very nice truck but with a very large hole in the radiator (Thanks GL).
Anyway, we used the M543A2 wrecker to recover the truck. It towed very nicely behind the wrecker. I think I hit 40 MPH on the flat stretches of road. No issues with...
very nice truck. I think it's a great deal considering it is in nice shape, runs good, has a winch, has plenty of parts to sell if you choose to take it back to Mil. specs. etc. Nice truck!
windshield work
I took out the front windshields from the truck last week. I disassembled the frames and got out the cloudy glass. The passenger side was pretty rusty as you can see by the window lock shown below. BTW, I could use one of those if anyone has a spare.
I run a glass...
that was quick. what did you right before it happened. Also, are the hubs flipped? those look like pretty heavy tires for those axles if the hubs aren't flipped.
I'm looking at these tires and rims ( NSN 2530-01-570-6352 ). It says 395 85R 20 and 10 lug rims but I can't find the bolt pattern. I think they would be nice on my M543 wrecker...bigger than 11.00 x 20.00s, a bit smaller than 14.00 x 20.00. I've read on other posts that MRAP rims won't bolt...
