I took a 5 ton cargo cover and had it cut down for my deuce. I had a boat upholstery shop do it. You can't just take if off the end otherwise the tie downs won't line up. I had it shortened, from the front area, the 2' and it all lined up perfectly. I sold it to a fellow SS member down in...
Wreckles,
Wecome to SS. If you are near Vacaville tomorrow (10/12/13) I would suggest you come to the "Mustangs and more" plane and car show at the Nut Tree airport. I'll be there with 5 ton larry and we can answer all your questions as well as meet each other. We can certainly talk trucks!
I just read your post. I know a guy but it's too late tonight to call him. I will be in Fontana Tuesday if that helps. I am also 45 mins from Lodi if you need some help to get back on the road.
5-ton Larry and myself are setting up a nice M.V. display. It's in Vacaville at the Nut tree airport. For those of you who aren't familiar, they fly in about a dozen P-51 mustangs on top of a bunch of other planes. They have a car show as well. It's a nice event. I know there are a good...
I just did a search for how to secure my new S250 shelter and found this thread. What great info! These are the times when I am so impressed with the knowledge that is available from this site...that doesn't have to do with bobbing or modifying a perfectly good truck.
I'll be coming out on Saturday the 21st. 5-ton larry is probably coming with me. Any SS members planning any get-together on Saturday? Anyone need any M37/M35 or windshields? I can bring some with me.
I've done this and have had no issues (5 years ago). I had trucks where folks mixed the liquids. If it jelled, you need to change out components (Master cylinder, wheel cylinders, airpack etc). If no jelling, then a major flush until you see DOT 5 bleeding that looks so good you'd put it...
I'd go with CARC. It's suprisingly easy to shoot and clean up (the water based stuff).
I've shot several vehicles with tan CARC and am happy with the results. BTW, i have areas peeling here and there. It's the paint below the CARC that's letting go...go figure.
"Kinda" is because I started this months ago but I'm finally gaining some ground. I started tearing into the wrecker to get her prepared for paint. The previous paint looked cracked, like fish eye, but worse. I'm thinking too much hardener??? Anyway, I ended up using 40 grit sandpaper in...
I moved the crowd out on the wrecker so I can prep it for paint. Upon completion, i found a bunch of hyrdrolic oil coming out the back of the boom. The TM has you remove the entire boom, them remove the crowd in order to access the crowd cylinder. Anyone have a simpler way to fix this?
I just picked up this lubrication trailer. It's a 1967. After painting it 24087, it'll look great towed behind the wrecker. It doesn't have the compressor but the tanks are triple rinsed and the rest is pretty much there. The body is in very good shape and tires are like-new. I'm going to...
Eagle,
Thanks for the idea. When I painted my last truck, I ran 100 feet of hose from the compressor, across the yard, to the truck. I did have some blistering issues occassionally. I have an 80 gallon Ingersol compressor and I bleed it regularly.
I will get one of those tanks I have laying...
I'd like to re-start this thread. I'm am planning my first semi-gloss paint job and I am going with compressed air. I had issues before with moisture when painted CARC so I want to go with a dryer. Harbor Freight has everything from $7.99 to $399.00. I'm sure the little in-line will be...
