TeH, Again it's the same for us. If I, as a commander order a Soldier to drive a vehicle he is not licensed and trained to operate then I am assuming the risk. Any decent commander will take responsibility for such an action. Techno in the post above posted a photo of our "pig snout". The one he...
Not true for the US Army. Commanders let training standards slip and Leaders that do not have the authority to license Soldiers often do so anyway, but the standard remains that every Soldier is supposed to go through drivers training for every type of vehicle they are licensed on. The way our...
I have uploaded the instructions for installation of cab reinforcement kit 5705616. The cab plate mounted on the rear wall designed for M44 series vehicles (M35A2, M35A3), abd M809 series vehicles.

It's even tilted a bit when towed with a deuce. It's a pain to back up too. You also won't have much room for error when it starts to turn on you. Hard to see it back there as well.
Bring some dunnage to put under the tongue jack wheel, it doesn't crank out enough to raise it up to truck pintle...
1850 gal. Almost 8 tons just in water. What does all the gear weigh on top of the water weight? Have you used it off road yet? I'm curious how she performs with that much weight, and how it holds up over time. Military trucks are definitely underrated.
There are lots of good threads on brush...
edit... All of the above, I was just late.
Bed, door and windshields will fit. I believe the battery box will fit, but I haven't seen one in years so I won't confirm it.
I have two size 34 red tops for the 24v and one other larger battery for the 12v (gp31 maybe?). They fit just fine. I have them blocked in with some wood. I'll have to engineer a hold-down, but I think I might replace the 12v battery first- probably with a yellow top. Cost is higher than...
I replaced my two batteries that have been giving me fits for months with two optima red tops. I've had to slave my deuce the last few times I started her because the old batteries wouldn't hold a charge. Now she fires up in seconds. What a difference a couple of fresh batteries make. I capped...
VAA= Vehicular Amplifier Adaptor. Yes it's the two shelf radio thingy.
I saw that radio trainer for sale and I wondered, who used these things? They weren't used at the Signal school, or if they were it was in very limited numbers, and then they weren't used to train the Soldiers that work on...
Very nice aquisition Derrick. That's going to be a lot of fun, hopefully it's not going to require much to get it going. The crane on that is incredibly useful.
I have four of them at work, and unfortunately only one is FMC. They seem to develop a lot of air/hydraulic problems. I can't speak...
You can use the LED markers with the old buckets and just use the 3 screws that line up. I did the same thing on my deuce until I got the aluminum buckets. The newer aluminum buckets line up with the LED marker screw holes, just make sure you're getting the right buckets when buying online. I...
I can personally attest a m16A1 would be equally at home in a CUCV as late as 1999. Last time I held a M16A1 in service was 2001, though M16A2s have been around quite awhile- You'd be accurate with either version.
If you can find one, a true military "rubber duck" wins for either standing in...
Nice looking train. The color on that Detroit D looks perfect too. What's the story with the line of LVSs, are they all yours or do they belong to a business?
