I paid for the battery conversion kit on Monday, received the kit Thursday and installed it today in about 30min. Excellent quality with detailed instructions. Thanks ETN550! This is a worthwhile mod. My MEP didn't come with a battery, so this was a natural step to make it more friendly. Two...
I've never seen one for sale before. Can't be many with private owners. First the armored 5 ton, now a HET!? Awesome motorpool bbf.
Did you use a deuce to flat tow it home...
My usual answer when asked what I do with my trucks? Whatever I want.
People buy fast cars, snow machines, boats, ATVs, motorcycles, and all sorts of other things that serve no purpose other than fun. Sure you can use all of the above to make money or earn a living, though most folks don't make...
In previous discussions about locking fuel caps several members brought up the possibility of vandalism exceeding the cost of the fuel. Thieves are lazy, and rather then try to circumvent a sturdy locking mechanism why not just poke a hole in the tank and catch the fuel as it drains. Another...
I've been replacing data plates on me truck that are worn and unreadable. Included in this plan are the plates on top of my winch. I received replacements already, but the some numbers on my old one are unreadable. I stamped the new one with the numbers I can read, but I can't be certain on a...
The govt likely didn't pay for the shabby body work specifically. Soldiers get paid the same if they're doing "body work", sweeping floors, raking leaves, shooting on a range or keeping peace in Haiti. Although sometimes units have to put in a work order to a civilian run maintenance shop in...
Added an antenna mount and antenna this week.
Some past work includes extra storage on the right fender. My wife contributed with the custom cover made from a shelter half.
Also added the extra lights attached to the grille brush guard. I might add a separate switch in the future, but for...
Thats what I currently use. They do suck. Mine are cracked and barely holding on. i like the concept but the plastic is too flimsy. I've been searching for something like that made of aluminum or steel. No luck yet.
I have an adaptor from Erik's surplus installed and the front markers won't flash when the turn signals are activated. The rear flashes fine, but the front markers won't.
There's a good chance I'll be back in MI during this show. I'll have to see if I can work it out. It'd be great to meet some of the MI SS'ers.
I've been to a few of these over the years, the last one for me was in 2006. Seems they've grown quite bit and the YAM is thriving.
I'd pay up to $250 for a set of good fiberglass racks/seats and bows. I paid $200 for a good 5 ton set from SECO but I had pull them from the yard. Used corners are usually a couple of bucks each, maybe a bit more if they are dropside corners, and broken wood is worth nothing.
Nice work. I haven't been under an A3 in years so I have to guess there wasn't enough room between the frame rails. That space is is probably occupied by engine stuff.
That looks like the kind of plate I'd need to put a winch between the frame rails in the rear of a deuce. Been thinking about...
The long bed 5ton M814 has the spare mounted in the rear. Take a look and see if you could make a similar setup work for a deuce. I don't know if there is enough room, but its a possibility.
I moved down from AK last year. I knew of a couple A2s around Fairbanks, had a chance to buy a pretty nice one for $4000 but passed on it like a fool. I've often thought about the logistics of having one up there and I don't think it would have been too bad. Shipping parts up from the lower 48...
