sw, you're quick! I was still writing the poll when you posted. It's up now.

    Military Watercraft Forum

Another thread prompted me to post this poll. Is there enough interest in military watercraft to create another forum? We have a few other niche forums and forums for very specific demographics, so why not one for surplus boats and other watercraft? It wouldn't take away from other areas...

    navy/military boat section?

One of the newer bridge boats like this: CRRC How much? Those bridge boats are pretty sweet. I've been contemplating a Zodiac H733 for years. I just don't think I'd get enough use out of a boat. A guy I used to dive with in MI had a LCPL (like this...

    navy/military boat section?

We have a Bradley forum. Show of hands, how many Bradley owners here? I think we've had quite a few requests for a boat forum and quite a few boat focused discussions. I think we're overdue for a military watercraft forum.

Why is this trailer worth over a $1000

They're popular right now. They're also in current service, the Army just has too many so some are coming out on the surplus market. I've seen them priced at $2000 retail. I don't know if they're selling at that price, but Mose folks think they will.

    My homemade headlight covers

Bought them on ebay awhile ago. The seller had a bunch of them at the time, I have another set I'm going to put on the deuce when I find some cheap LED headlights.

    My homemade headlight covers

Looks great, looks like your headlights will be protected if you're running down oak trees. Matches the grill guard too. Just paint those bolt heads. Did you have the expanded steel on hand? I have no idea what that stuff costs if you were to buy it, but I bought my issue headlight...

    R.I.P.-- John Winslow

Didn't know him, but I talked with him on the phone once. Seemed like a good guy, wish I had more dealings with him. My condolences go out to those he left behind. Rest In Peace John.

What model 5 ton is this? Oshkosh?

Soldiers complain about 939s, they complained about 809s and M44s... If a Soldier isn't complaining something is terribly wrong. There are pros and cons to all of them, but overall the FMTVs are serving us pretty well. I don't have more than anectdotal evidence on operational readiness rates...

    Rumblin Wreck Build

Great mods. Good job on the installs too, looks like quality work. Great idea with the lock on the tailgate. I had my hooks come out after bouncing over some railroad tracks. I pulled over before the tailgate dropped, but I cringe when I think of all the loose gear I had in the back that could...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Great updates and photos, keep them coming. Some of those 5 ton and 2.5 ton RV conversions deserve a write up. Hopefully our SS members in the convoy are spreading the word about the site to non-members. Just this convoy related news story in the Fairbanks local news (Newsminer). Fairbanks...

M35a2 horn goes off when ever it wants

I think I have a similar issue with my M813. I was just moving it in my driveway awhile ago and the horn sounded. I thought maybe I just bumped the button with my arm, then it happened again. I'm pretty sure I didnt bump it again. I thought maybe it's just me, there's nothing in the TM about it...

    M925

$8k sounds pretty decent as long as it runs well, everything functions as intended and it isn't a rust bucket.

    1 ton load in a M101A2

One version of the TM even lists off road rating at 1500lbs and highway rating at 3000lbs. 2000lbs is no problem at all for a M101a2.

    Role reversal

Wow, who would have thunk it? I wouldn't have guessed the crane truck would make a better tow vehicle. Makes sense, but at first look the 757 appears to be a beast. That modified M49 is a sweet truck, too bad about the thrown rod.

U-Haul Overhaul: A Story of Recovery and Repair

You do understand the NG can't just "give away" vehicles, right? Maybe there's more to the story and something got lost in translation, but if the origin is simply what you were told I would demand a paper trail immediately. Or give them back. But that's just me...

Going to live in my deuce in Oklahoma....

Sounds like fun to me. A drastic lifestyle change often helps to figure out what is really important and re-prioritize, kind of a "hard reset". Sounds like you've got the option to rent a cheap place but you're choosing an extended campout because you want to. By what you've stated above it...

Help with 10 Lug wheel conversion

The HIMARS base vehicle is a FMTV. Those wheels don't look like standard FMTV wheels, but I'd wager the axles and hubs are standard.
