    M919 heading to Alaska!

Did the buyer happen to mention what it cost to barge her up from Seattle to WA?

Yup. Maybe a customer service makeover is coming right behind the new website.

    Batteries

The one 12v wire the -10 shows is for the cold start pre-heater glow plug. I think use is so intermittent unbalancing your batteries isn't a concern. Balance issues would probably come from higher draw or constant use 12v applications.

    2012 vin info thread

Thanks CARNAC, sorry about the NSN dashes. I knew better and still overlooked it. I'll promptly knock out 50...

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

Excellent photo album. Thanks for posting. I dig the 1st Battalion 5th Infantry "Bobcat" photos, I was a Bobcat for a few years and always like seeing historic photos of Bobcats in action.

    Batteries

Massive engine with some big parts to turn and keep turning when it's cold. It sometimes takes more than a few turns to fire in extreme conditions. 809 series 5 tons also have 4 batteries.

    2012 vin info thread

Just bought a 1970 Kaiser-Jeep M35A2 w/w from another member. I checked the data plate against the frame serial and it appears as though she was originally wo/w. I don't' know if a private owner or Uncle added the winch. I looked to see if there was already an info request posted since I'm at...

    Southern Illinois Airport, B-29 & P-51 fly-in, Today; 18-6-12

Awesome. Fi-fi is a pretty rare sight, and nothing sounds like those four massive CW 3350s. Share the photos!

Question on an AK roadtrip through Canada

You CAN take firearms through Canada. Just follow their rules, and make sure your paperwork is in order. It's very easy to take items within the limits of their laws, and I found all the RCMP and customs folks to be very helpful, professional and mostly friendly. I'm interested to hear how a...

    S-749 shelter

The shelter linked by MIdon and discussed by Wheeling looks like a S788. While it doesn't work in a pickup or CUCV it'll work on a deuce. It has more room than a S250 and is probably easier to find than a s749. I got linked to his thread doing some unrelated searching and happened to find some...

The "HOOD IN THE FACE" club

Not a hood fail, but I had my windshield ice over within a couple of seconds and blind me completely, while going downhill on an icy road at about 50 mph. * Coming down from the hill where I lived in Fairbanks, AK, heading in to the city in the winter the temperature difference was such that my...

    Deuce Cargo truck

12ft for a deuce, 14ft for a 5 ton. Beds are flat. You can have "stake" sides and fold down seats if you want them. Furthermore both size beds come in drop side and fixed side versions. Both 2.5 and 5 ton trucks have long wheel base versions with much longer beds, but weight ratings remain the...

    Airbags?

I say just get one. Mom will get over it. If the OP is under 18 he won't have to deal with Mom for much longer. When he turns 17 he can probably just go stay with his Uncle for awhile. :)

    5-ton hubsteps

I these would look pretty sweet, but I never approach from the sides. With the air cleaner on the road side, and the fender at high chest level on the curb side I can't imagine trying to climb up from the side. I find it incredibly easy to climb up between the grill/fender and the bumper (with...

Any tips on installing a 7 blade RV plug?

It's super easy to make a 12 pin NATO to civilian 4 or 7 pin adaptor. Much easier than cutting up the existing trailer wiring. Look here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/electrical/24917-12-pin-nato-trailer-plug-adapters.html

Yspilanti, Michigan Car/Truck Show - Salute to Vets

Just google riverside park, Ypsilanti. Wish I could attend. I grew up just a few miles away, I remember going to see the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall in riverside park as a kid. I lived in Ypsi just a few blocks away from riverside when I went to Eastern Michigan too. Take lots of photos...
