Well I started looking at all my projects in line and finally realized I have to stop taking on more til some get done. Lately I've been half tempted to hire someone to help, but then again finding good TRUSTWORTHY help is hard now a days. As for the engine, I thought about building it myself...
Okay it's been awhile since I've actually done anymore work on the M38A1. It's amazing how time flies by and then you realize what you thought you put off for a week or two has almost become a year. Got the motor and trans painted yesterday. Gonna let them dry for a couple of days then get...
I'm thinking, but I don't think there will be a part number for just the seat cover. I believe the set bottom would be replaced as a complete unit. I could be wrong but I doubt the Army has a part number for just the cover and clip rings.
Depending on what parts you are looking for, I'd find a locally owned truck repair shop and they should be able to help find many parts cheaper. We have one where I take things like bearings, seals, lines, etc to and they are can get most of it. They also still know how to use a micrometer...
You should be fine with a rubber line as long as it's secure and not going to be hitting any moving parts. The lines from the fuel filter to the engine are rubber.
Woodwalker, I think it's more then just "the guy won't sell it to ME". I would say most of the members on here just want to see history saved, not make a quick buck by low balling the guy. But at the same time so many people watch Barrett Jackson or other big time auction sites and think their...
I don't know if they went as far to drain the gear lube out or not. I know most the engine's I checked were empty, but the washer fluid reservoirs were full. I'm close by.
The event number was 9603. Sorry I didn't try getting on last night.
If you wanted to even try to drive them, be aware, the fluids were drained from each of them.
I'll look tonight if I get enough internet, I've got the event number in my closed watchlist. It also said in the description that mutilation was not required which means it's a scrap sale 9 times out of 10.
Went by there today, it is a ways from post out at the Range Control lot. I forgot how far out it is. In case your curious there is no loading docks out there. Also, just a reminder when looking at GL, always look at what category the item is being sold under. Could affect (or is it effect? I...
Well back on topic, I do wonder if this was part of reason why DoD went to the EPA about the surplus trucks. Wouldn't be surprised if Ironplanet wanted a solid answer so they wouldn't be the ones stuck with a huge fine later. The worst part of this whole thing, I think, is that now I have...
So no more inspections on rolling stock, not sure if I like that. All you get to rely on is their inspection report. I saw some questions on buying fees, according to their FAQ it will be the same as govliquidation, 10% Buyer premium and Sales tax. I am curious how they are going to handle...
I use Blackstone Labs and they send you a detailed report with oil contents just like 61sleepercab mentioned, but they also give you a good down to earth explanation of what they see and believe the samples say. They will compare it to normal levels in other similar engines and also use your...
A couple things I am looking for:
M105 Drum
M1028A1 Driveshaft (mine was a GL special)
M35A2 Camo Cargo Cover
Passenger Side Rear (topper) window and seal for M1009
Also I'm always on the lookout for display items to go with our displays. We do displays for WWII thru Desert Storm.
For those...
Haven't seen that one before. Very interesting setup. You would have to imagine that it was for artic conditions, but you'd think they would have an enclosed cab. Might just be my hatred of cold that makes me think that too. lol
The kubelwagen half track design came to mind looking at the...
