Because the companies have a lot more capital then I have and GL sells the harnesses in large scrap lots. Last I saw one passed $30,000. I don't look anymore after that, I'm afraid of accidentally bidding and accidentally clicking confirm. lol
Unless someone try's to create a name for...
There is a guy here in Clarksville that is real good. I take all my machine work to him and he is the one who rebuilt my M38A1 motor as well. It's a couple hours from Chattanooga, but if you can't find anyone closer let me know and I'll see what he would charge for you.
I understand the big scrap companies. That's like the wiring harnesses that were for sale on GL that were won by a scrap company. To them it's copper wire, to me I see radio harnesses, etc but I can't compete with them :( I was more referring more to the individuals who will scrap an old...
Normally they will sit because no one wants to do the paperwork to turn them in. Also depends on the relationship the unit has with DRMO. If it's bad then turn in can be a nightmare. I was always on their good side but have seen the hassle when you piss them off. lol
Scrappers kill me. They...
Here is a Duece torque cheat sheet I created for myself. Thought I'd share it with anyone interested. It's listed by TM and the specs are in order in which they came out of the TM. I like to follow torque specs on most things but hate having to dig through the TM (even on pdf) to find the...
Do the gauges drop off with the lights? If so it could be a ground connection problem somewhere. One of my dueces has a similar problem but the lights dim then nothing works but periodically will come back on. I think it's a ground but haven't had a chance to check. Also on my M151A2...
It all depends on which MRAP it is. The MAXPRO and CAIMEN are 4-6 personnel in the back (if memory serves me correct) but the RG33 I believe was up to 10-12.
It does have the V-hull but the black paint and the items like the stairs help hide it from being seen in the photos. They make the...
Actually a good number really are. Our local PD just got two of them in case of floods and when I went by DRMO yesterday another expandable van 5 ton was destined for a PD. The risk of floods and natural disasters is getting a lot of PDs to look at the 5 ton to get supplies in and evacuate people.
I was never a fan of the MAXXPRO, I didn't like the hydraulic rear door. I liked the CAIMEN the best though the RG33 was just a beast, basically an armored school bus.lol
Never trust a military fuel gauge. I made that mistake once in Iraq, thankfully it was on the FOB.
Test all the gears in the transmission, especially 5th.
The hood is fiberglass. The vehicle is designed to protect it's occupants. It's not built like an APC or Tank so there is no protection for the engine or drivetrain. The idea (and it works) is that when an IED goes off it can destroy everything except the hull of the vehicle. Trying to...
That's just crazy. Wants to plant bushes when you have a garden there already. Sounds like he is one of those type neighbors who wants to control everything and doesn't want anyone around who does anything different then him.
