Radiator will begin cooling at 180 BUT ultimately engine will eventually work its way up to 210 unless you have higher flow radiator and hoses and water jackets. Just the thermostat only allows water to flow BEFORE the block warms up to operating specs. Our Diesels work more efficiently at 200-210.

Hummer1 used a cheap 24-12 volt inverter to use the existing wiper system. I also recall what RWH recalls about a Jeep unit.

This might be an issue with the solenoid. Also these are sealed units to allow for driving and starting while submerged. Dust builds up and might interfere with Bendix function as dust cannot escape over time. Opening the starter and cleaning it out might help.

Assuming the sound occurs when you’re above 200 degrees, it is normal for the Cadillac valve. Wrap the valve in rubber or silicone sheet to get rid of the noise. Lots of posts about this.
