    A3 Crew Cab Build Starts

With the long nose that the A3's have and the double cab, the thing looks like an old diesel freight train on pavement. Awesome work. Can't imagine how much beer you've gone through.....

    1968 JK M35A2 Restoration Project!

How cheap are you getting your Behr? I paid $33 a gallon here! I am due for another gallon now that I have both my wooden troop racks disassembled and fully stripped for paint.

    1968 JK M35A2 Restoration Project!

Great job! When that Behr fully cures after a month or so, you will find it is every bit as hard and durable as CARC. In fact somebody here mentioned that the BEHR flat is very similar to the new water based CARC. It's about as non toxic as paint can get, too.

    Haulin Hay.

Hey, Rosco. What's with the cool siding on the deuce? Also see what looks like another rack on the right side.

Items needed to rebuild your wiring harness's.

Thanks, I forgot to mention the cannon plugs though. This is where the insulation tends to crumble the most because most of the cannon plugs are exposed to the elements. Don't want shorts here! To disassemble the female plugs (they have sockets instead of pins) you simply unscrew the shell from...

Items needed to rebuild your wiring harness's.

Just got done doing a count. For those interested in making their trucks wiring 100% waterproof and brand new looking again. For the GMC M211's you'll need 110' of 14g wire 110 Douglas rubber grommets 110 Douglas bullet terminals 60/40 Rosin core solder Soldering gun Wire cutters Knife or...

Great idea for dual circuit brakes

Gimpy, you are correct. I was under the assumption that some of the Bendix vacuum boosters are "actuated' via an external type linkage but it seems they have to receive hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder to apply pressure to the wheel cylinders. I am not sure but I see more than 1...

Great idea for dual circuit brakes

I was brainstorming a little tonight while watching the thunderstorm. An idea for an easy to setup and inexpensive but reliable "dual" circuit brake system for all Deuce's. For those familiar with the stock braking system you'll see the AIR PAK powers both the front axle and rear wheel...

    First '52 XM211

Love the chain thing. Classic. Have you considered the more traditional rusty metal primer? I find it hides a lot of surface imperfections and because it contains fish oil it soaks into any corrosion and halts the process. I don't use it over severely rusted metal, which is treated with a wire...

    10 Ton M125 Repaint

I'll bet it's bigger in person!

Help My 5 ton is under flood water!!

There will probably be a lot of fine sand in everything from the water. Can you work on the vehicle where it's at now, when it is dry? I wouldn't worry a whole lot about rust and corrosion. If you can get the vehicle on dry land and begin the disassembly process as soon as possible for...

Lifting safety what are you using

Try and stay away from Harbor Freight. The Chinese are building their economy and their Military off our need for cheap crap at low prices. Same thing happened in WWII, the Japanese built a very powerful and formidable fighting force off the iron and steel we'd been selling them for years. At...

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

Your not applying the paint over metal, your applying over existing paint. I had a thread sometime back on the use of the Behr and Valspar, I too found that rusty metal or bare metal must be cleaned and PRIMED before applying the house paints. I would choose the Behr over the valspar because it...

    Deuce Blown Michelin Fun.

Yikes! I have heard of more of the Michelins blowing than I have 20 year old NDT's. Scary stuff, makes me think twice about running the 395 XML's on mine. Maybe i'll just go with a set of 11.00 NDT's instead.....

Needs some tips on fixing this dent

I figure the bondo will be far enough back on the tank and once it's properly primed and sealed up with a couple coats of 24087 then any small fuel spill would be harmless.

No sprag linkage, can I still drive in reverse?

I searched on this some, and the general consensus seems to be that for sprag equipped vehicles the vehicle cannot be driven in reverse if the sprag is still in the "forward position" which is what it stays in due to the spring pressure. This is on my GMC which has a sprag Tcase, but it pertains...

    M109 fuel economy

12, 14, 16 mpg? I have not seen numbers this high even with the M35 cargo variant? Huh?

Needs some tips on fixing this dent

Shoot, the truck is a work in progress. Still have to rebuild the engine, tranny, etc. I went ahead and tack welded a plate to the dent earlier around noon. Ran out of wire, picked up some more and put a few more tacks on. I put the tank under the right side of the cargo bed (coincidentally...

Needs some tips on fixing this dent

No offense taken, I always try and keep in mind that on an internet forum it can sometimes be difficult to determine somebody's exact tone. I am very confident in my welding skills, done a lot of fabricating since owning the truck and I've been complimented on my work by those who have been...

Needs some tips on fixing this dent

I am no expert, never taken a welding class in my life. But asking for tips on how to do something in no way indicates a person does not have the skill or knowledge required to perform said repair. I've got a lot of work to get done here and it's been 110+ these past few days, so it will be...
