This has been an issue for a couple months on my 87 998 with 6.2. Started with "fan will not come on" but wasn't overheating. I used the TM to troubleshoot the fan (as that's what I thought it was):
1. Pulled fan switch, boil tested and opens around 215. When disconnected, fan operates.
2...
That's the early one, I thought it'd fit. The mount is for the "3.5 ton" jack that was made much later. That absolutely won't fit under the seat... I'd like mine to fit there too, now it rides on the floor behind the driver when I'm out, just in case.
I was really thinking the same thing, but I've "heard stories" that some have been able to repair them. I need to find the thrust washers, wrench, and the retaining pins for the wrench as well. I wish Rico was open because the hardware packs are cheap for the washers and pins...
Got a great deal on a Rhino mount and it's got a bent pin. Seems simple to replace and replacements are available (maybe someone has a spare cheap???), but has anyone straghtened one? If so, how did you do it?
My thought is heat + cheater pipe + vice might be the only way.
Thanks!
Resurrecting an old thread in case someone has the length of the 4 man divider so I can cut down and do this install too... I've got the 2 man divider just taunting me.
LED conversion lights *may* require updating the flasher box or adding a resistor to fool it into thinking everything is incandescant. Very good write up on how to build a new flasher module on the cheap (and better) in the electrical section of the forum.
I'll be doing the LED bulb converison...
Pretty good write-up with tech manual pages HERE
Parts list breakdown and a couple of videos are also listed there. One of the video's said to only use 4.5" and 3.5" bolts (1/2"-13 grade 8 ) for the entire installation.
I'm gathering the parts to do a install myself so links were handy already.
Installed today, hidden under dash because I don't want to drill the original hole larger. Left the "acc" position open. Just a piece of aluminum I bent in a vice to match the contour of the dash, two sheet metal screws to attach and a large hole for the switch itself. Pics when they load...
Can confirm Grote switch does NOT drop right in. Measures .980 diameter. Well built but drill required. I'm making a bracket to hide under the dash and leave the original in place. If it falls the original spare will already be there. Pics once I get it done.
That’s a great idea. How did your seats fit with the 3 point belts? Can’t get the passenger side to fit back far enough without removing the belt tensioner...
Way more than “just bolt them in” that I read in some other threads...
