    hmmwv ambulance body

As far as I know the only M996s were done back in '86 and they were only doing lapbelts back then. I added the 3 point belts and then had to change them because the original belts wouldn't fit one of my friends. There are at least 3 different lengtth 3 point belts, the longest of which is...

    hmmwv ambulance body

I rivetted a 1/4" plate of aluminum to the B pillar for the upper seatbelt mount.

I'd suggest tracing them and then mailing the drawings. PDFs have a bad habit of changing sizes when they get scanned.

    hmmwv ambulance body

I originally bought mine from George Hilton over at Surplus Enterprises. I went back and pulled the receipt but all it says is Bracket, L.H. and Bracket, R.H. so there may not be a real NSN assigned to them.

2 Way Radio for David Clark head sets

Go online and look for some used aviation intercom sets. Softcom and Sigtronics are a couple that come to mind. The advantages are they're simple and small, run on 24 volts, and accept the plugs on your DC headsets without modification. And they don't cost a fortune. I've used one in my HMMWV...

Do you guys realize this is the weekend before the MVCC Camp Plymouth meet? Camp Plymouth is the largest MV meet west of the Mississippi River and draws hundreds of participants.

    MVCC Plymouth meet update

February 16, 2021 addendum: We are progressing with our plans for the upcoming MVCC meet in Plymouth at this point and there are a few things that need clarification. The way payments are set up right now the 49ER RV Resort is collecting all payment for those people staying in the RV park. This...

    Niehoff alternator amperage question

The output current from an alternator isn't controlled by the alternator but rather by the load placed on it. That current rating is based on the components designed into the alternator. Wire size, rectifier diode specs, stator windings, there are many factors that need to be considered but...

    A0-A1 seat swap

When I did my commanders seat upgrade the kits weren't available so I bolted the seat directly to the floor after removing the right angle floor brackets and turning them around. Underneath I just used so 1" strap stock aluminum to prevent the bolts from pulling thru the floor if I had an accident.

    See if this helps.

    HUMMIES for DUMMIES

Back on topic? When I installed the dual pull brake MWO in my HMMWV I found it almost impossible to get the retaining rings that hold the flexible lines to the B pillar on. The only way to make them work was to sand the CARC paint off of the area where the clip seats.

    HUMMIES for DUMMIES

Same place you buy your cheap armor doors and control boxes.

    HUMMIES for DUMMIES

After reading the hundreds of Tales-of-Woe here on the Steel Soldiers Forum I'd like to create another topic that I'll call "Hummies for Dummies." This would be a place where you could post the things you learned the hard way about your new truck. Things like the mistakes you made and things...

    HMMWV Replacement Batteries

Flat top 24Fs are the way to go. Less expensive, available anywhere, better warranty.

    Charging problem

Make sure your batteries have clean, tight connections and are fully charged again before you try to do anything. Low batteries are the control box' worst enemy! See if it'll start and if the voltmeter stays in the yellow. If it does remove the rear cover of the alternator and inspect for...

    Grenaded rear end?

Driveline brake or dual pull? The driveline brake will occasionally stick, not so much with the dual pull setup. Have someone carefully slide under the truck when you put it in gear and see if the rear drive shaft is turning. If it is then your diff might be toast. If it isn't turning then you...

    A penny for your thoughts

Before dropped the tank I'd try a gauge replacement. If you have Faria gauges they are notoriously inaccurate. In my HMMWV when the tank reads E I can only feed it about 18 gallons so technically I should have a 7 gallon reserve. LOL On a road trip to Portland a few years back about the time...

    Driving Techniques

BTM works to a certain degree but it won't stop you from snapping a half shaft if you hillclimbing at full throttle and one wheel lifts off the ground and then slams back down after spinning up while airborn.
