Thanks! my schematic didn't have the info that the A-B were identified in the plug and i didn't want to wire anything in reverse. now when i reconnected them and checked for voltage at the pins i have 24 vdc when the start switch is engaged but no excitement on the generator. what do you think...
MEP 003A exciter
on my 003A in the lower output box there is a J 12 connector that has two wire going to the exciter in the gen end. inside the box the two wires were broken loose at the connector and i need to know what wire corresponds to the other wire on the other side of the connector. the...
what kind of wire do they use
I have an MEP 003A that has been sitting in the corner for a number of years that i got running yesterday. the problem i have found is at plug J 10 the plug between the output box has two wires separated on the inside of the plug. i need some wire so i can cut the...
can someone confirm for me that the J10 plug on the lower control box on an 003a is the two wires that carry 24 VDC to the generator to excite the generator?
actually that was exactly the info i was looking for. i knew i had repairs on the shelf but needed a few hours of generating. with the fuse pulled would allow me to wait for a more appropriate time to tear it down without damaging anything or overcharging the batteries.
I actually had a new Lakeland VR setting on the shelf with the other spare parts. we are having an ice storm and the oem VR went south. i was considering running with the fuse pulled for a few hours, but we had a break in the weather so i installed the new regulator Jim built and now all is well.
I just recently bought a set of Exide Edge FP-AGM51R battery for an MEP 003a. they start the set excellent and at below freezing temps just fine. I hope they are better than Optima, but time will tell.
I would start with the fuel system. check to see if the electric fuel pump is operating and check the screen in the bottom of fuel pumps. see if it starts,if it doesn't move to the fuel strainer> drain and clean. see if it will start. then to the fuel filters and so on.
just a thought. it might be possible and is probable that my percent of load gauge isn't registering correctly. when the gauge reads 100% the engine doesn't act like it has that much load on it. i can hear the gov open and the engine labor some but not like it is at or near any limit. in...
I haven't seen to many of these generators and maybe some were made for different climates too " i don't know" but on the ones i have the only thing that happens when you select winter as it is labeled on mine is the intake air is drawn from the warmed fresh air that circulates around the...
over Christmas i was without power for a couple of weeks. the day time temp was above freezing some days and around 17 at night. i ran the whole time with the air cleaner in the winter position on an MEP 002A and average load was probably around 30 percent with a few stints above 100%. didn't...
put the cover on and leave the ends open. point the trailer so that the blowing snow and rain don't directly blow in the open end. make sure there is enough ventilation between the exhaust and your house so you don't get carbon monoxide in the house. or move it now before the storm hits and...
does it cost extra for this added service? how much lead time do you need to make these? I have several of these generators and have spent quite a lot lately just getting my spare filters glow plugs battery etc. when i get my budget built up some i will order at least two but i really need...
Triple Jim
voltage regulators for the charging circuit and new gauges are on my to do list. when i get some other stuff out of the way and payed for, i will be contacting you. I have been looking at a set of Exide Edge AGM batteries in the group 51r for my generators. they are supposed to be...
I am shopping for some new batteries for my MEP 002A and 003A generators. I have found that the AGM type battery out perform flooded lead acid battery especially when just sitting. they don't discharge as fast and have more capacity than the lead acid battery. the only problem i have found is...
the plugs i bought came with the washers. i used a pick and couldn't find any in the head so i just used the new ones. i don't think there were any in the head to begin with. i wonder if compression jams carbon and crap around the threads and locks them in the head. I wonder??
