As pointed out, you can do it, but it isn't recommended. There are a lot of threads on here where people try to argue about how a side mount turbo will work. I think I have seen a picture of one installed once, maybe. The truck wasn't done though, just the turbo on there without most of the...
Permatex Right Stuff in the aerosol can works real well for that. The thing to remember is the length of the valve cover bolts. If they bottom out in the bolt hole. Then the chances of cracking the head at that spot go up. So, lay it on thick if not including the gasket.
I use the gasket and...
It has been hot here. HOT hot. Perfect time to test out the cooling system. However, I just haven't wanted to abuse the truck for no reason. Yesterday I had a reason. Colton is back at A&M for the fall semester. He called to tell me the drivers tie rod pulled out of the steering rack on...
Have you looked into the CO2 tank set ups?
I converted a York compressor to fit on my M715 years ago. Added M35 air tanks under the bed, plumbed lines to both bumpers and loved it for the first few years. Then I had to use it about 8 hours straight recovering my M35 gasser. Running impact...
When I did the Gasser M35 10 years ago. I thought the wiring was easy. All the old stuff was just cut out and every fastener was broken. I put it back together with all new. Also, no body work. I could do it all sitting on a stool or standing.
That is is what makes this difficult. Being part...
I started about a year ago removing the broken wiring harness from my M35A2 whistler. I had everything under the dash and at the lights disconnected. Then the hurricane hit, I had family members evacuate to me and I hot wired the truck started to move it out of the way. Life happened and I just...
We had the county wildlife biologist talk to our Trail Life Troop last night. She had a Timber Rattler in an aquarium that someone had found last week. That rattle would start buzzing when anyone got within a few feet from any direction all night long. I really hate that sound but as point...
When I did the add on a/c to my M1009. I found duct tape on the floor vents with the top slide set to floor works real well. Unless you drive over 70 for a long period of time and the duct tape pops off from the air flow. I carry a roll under the drivers seat and reapply as needed.
There...
That is why I didn't answer. The years are kind of varied depending on the source. Here is the part I bought and with just a little file work on the bottom of the column, fit perfect.

I just yesterday did the XJ shaft swap into my truck. Same basic u-joints as the flaming river ones pictured above. Amazing difference in how it drives.
I think the truck for the first time ever is now leak or even drip free. The original to the truck power steering box has leaked out several seals and is pretty loose. I have not found a new replacement that seems to me worth the price they want for them. I really don’t think a parts store...
Many have done it. Posted results normally conclude it works great. Then mostly those posters disappear from the web site. Some return a year or so later asking for help because their truck won’t start or the IP is bad. But, again very few people that post about running waste motor oil follow up...
Yes on the ORD cross member and mounts. I should have gone that way on my truck. Ease of changing the lift pump if nothing else. Rich has that on his truck and it looks so much more mechanic and vehicle friendly than the stock on.
I put the energy suspension inserts on my Cowdog project truck. The motor doesn't move, but I an feel a lot more vibrations inside the truck than any of my other 6.2 powered vehicles.
My suggestion is to get the factory replacements. They should be good for another 30 years or so.
I don't...
That is pretty. I am gathering parts to replace my box and shaft. I haven't found the box I want yet but will do the XJ shaft swap. There is just too much slop in the system to be comfortable in the truck after getting out of a rack and pinion car.
Bearing preload is one of those things that every manual seems to have a different way of doing it, each of us were taught a different way and have seen other people do it different ways. We are all looking for the same end result. A seated bearing and the adjuster nut right at but not over...
