Ok,I don't know what I did,but it fixed the problem.
SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got home this evening and took the carb apart and cleaned it,I had been trying to get someone on the phone all day at Saturn Surplus to order parts for the ing...
Ok,I know the truck you are talking about,it has been on Ebay twice and it's in the classifieds here, and has been for a while.
It is a Mack powered M54A1C with out winch, has the later smaller turbo if I remember correctly from the pics.
The owner states it runs great and needs brake work,has...
Yeah,it still has a lean stutter at about 1000 rpms,I need to take the dist out and clean it up as well as lube the flyweights and springs in the mechanical advance.
If I keep it I may go ahead and install the electronic ignition kit that M series rebuild sells, that may smooth out the 302 a...
I am absoutely shocked,
I have spent many a hour at John's place wandering around the field picking parts and talking trucks,John was always glad to see you and would help you out any way he could. He will sorely be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers will be with his family during this...
Well, got the chance to do a few more adjustments this evening, and a longer test drive,It runs better every time, hopefully I can make a video this weekend.
Evening Butch,
the exhaust pipe is actually on this truck,I saved another from the M135 I had and took it to my local exhaust guy,he is gonna see if he can duplicate it,if so I may have a few made up from stainless steel and see how they work.
I used both servos in the first trans, and I am...
SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After a few adjustments, some topping of fluids, changing the engine oil and filter, and hooking everything back up,I took the GMC for a drive and .................
IT SHIFTED PERFECTLY,ALL RANGES,ALL GEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It...
Pulling the complete power pack on a GMC is the only way to go,much simpler and easier than trying to pull the engine then trans.
GM actually has the 2 lifting rings positioned perfectly so it will balance the pack perfectly with everything full of fluids.
Well,evidently this truck's fate isn't yet sealed,
Since scrap price has fallen dramatically recently,it really doesn't pay to haul this truck off just yet,so......
I have 1 more supposedly good Hydramatic trans(it shifted correctly in the last truck it was in,I tested it)I am gonna pull the...
Well, the trans problem,I could use the $$$ for other projects,I have 9 other MVs that need work,I have swapped 3 different transmissions in it and NONE of them worked correctly,so I am kinda fed up with the GMC M series deuces in general.
I actually didn't plan on keeping this truck.
I don't...
Here is the link to the classified ad here,I don't think we are allowed to post prices in the forum.

Yep,I have tried that more than once, even at governed engine speed in first gear, the shift to high will actually cause the truck to slide all 10 wheels.
If scrap is that low now(it was $10/100lb here last week)maybe I need to try that last trans before I submit it to the scrap heap
Well, the update is it has till friday, then it's getting hauled to the scrapper,it's been in the classifieds several times,Ebay twice, craigslist and the local Iwanna,no takers.
