Do the turn signals work? both left and right, emergency flashers too? Brake lighting goes thru the turn signal switch, Those funky stop switches can be a problem. Connect the two switch wires together and see if the brake lights come on... steady and not flicken and a flashing.
Simple...
"My battery is wired in series with the 2 negatives jumpered together and the positives on the outside."
This is what I read? As in series like links in a chain. If as written, that's a problem. Well, really not. Equals ZERO +/- volts in a 24 volt system.
It could happen I guess...
Not going to turn this into a piss match with any SS, new or old. I responded to your five sentence post # 1 " Stuck plug on old control box" biased on what was stated. Not knowing anyone experience and sometimes question my own, the statements made is all I have to go off of.
"Asking for...

Staying on the top of high side of the ridges and using a drill stop should work. Riv-nuts not that long. But check before drilling.

Been off line, out of town.
Mr. 86Humv is Right. I figured the guys wouldn't be able to get at the nose piece with the fan / shroud in the way. Too much work.🛠 Should have stated it better for the clever ones.
I was clear as where to tap. The tap and wack is a controlled wack. More on the...

Humv has a fist full, CAMO
We just went over this and related fan / overheating issue here for the last month. Check overheating and fan threads.
Couple up some fittings to your clutch line so that you can apply 90 +/- PSI air to clutch (no leaking). when applied lightly tap all around metal hub ring, just behind fan...

It's good that your'er working the problem. MY process is to have or get a clear understanding of the system. Get your colored pencils and mark up the drawings with notes. Work it out on paper...
