Back to this. Pulled 6 bolt PTO off, purchased 6 bolt PTO cover. Traded some stuff around for an 8 bolt PTO and pump with dump bed valve on it. Need to remove bolt-on dump valve portion and add a simple output hose connection, or change out pump for conventional one. The PTO I acquired has a...
Thread from the dead.
Summer cruises are over, so now back online with getting the ISL and 13 speed married and swapped out into the truck. Just ordered some long full threaded bolts from McMaster-Carr to mate the SAE #2 clutch housing to the ISL flywheel housing, and the dual disc clutch to...
Proceed with caution, that was a data based post. I'd still rather have a dead 8.3 over 3 running 250's, oh but wait, you virtually can't find an 8.3 dead. There is a reason people can't give running 250's away for free, and an 8.3 replacement engine is $2,500-$4,500.
...and that was opinion...
My favorite topic.
8.3 gets markedly better fuel mileage vs the 250. 250 has way more low end power, 8.3L has almost none, but has more high RPM power. 250 sounds like a truck, 8.3L sounds like a school bus. 8.3L can easily be turned up in power and RPM. Not so easy with a heavy 250 with...
Got it (spragger t-case higher geared or even 1:1?). Still could work if his engine has the stones to pull a lower overall gear. Truck is bobbed so lighter, and probably runs empty 99% of time. What did the case study of others that did it reveal? Final of 0.57 does seem in the basement...
Throw an M939 t-case under there and be done with all this craziness, unless it doesn't fit, but I have heard of others at least talking about doing such. Can get them relatively cheap, $500 or so. Goes forward, backward, front axle air switched, all that. Nothing more satisfying then...
Delco's are not the highest quality, they were just the most commonly available at their time. I even bought a brand new Delco Heavy Duty 110A 24V latest model 28Si from an International truck dealer to benchmark (paid $330 my discount price). It failed in less than one year of hobby use only...
Looked it up for you and all. NAPA p/n 30910, mfg by Kat, $68.49. Short stainless immersion heater with cord.

Starter on the 8.3L is way oversized to begin with (same starter used on the Cummins 855 based NHC 250, just different pinion), so it can...
I don't think there is enough volume interest for any company to make this worth while, especially once we all said we want the price point to be $1,000. Just a guess.
Up to you to decide the look and functionality you want. Digital is clear and does not bounce, but with analog you get a better feel of the change rate (how fast it is increasing). Easier to put a warning buzzer on a digital one if you don't think you will watch it closely after turning your...
6 speed and spare 8.3L is scrapped. Got like $62 for all of it. Would have rather one of you had it, but nobody wanted a 1:1 final gear trans, or to ship the stuff.
Sorry I never did this to mine, but I fully understand how to and would be happy to talk anybody through it. Feel free to...
The timing pins on the pump and engine gear case rear will only depress in at one point each. Pull the pump gear off, rotate each until the pins can each be pushed in, then bolt the pump gear back on. That will set the timing back to the stock 8 degrees. Don't forget to pull both pins back...
