The thing to look for when it doesn't start is to see if there is smoke coming out of the tail pipes. If there is, most likely the IP is somewhat good. Engine may be down on compression and not be making enough heat to light the fuel. Try to manually cycle glow plugs and see if it starts.

Yep. Hit a deer on 422 near Indiana,Pa friday morning doing about 50 mph. No damage to the M1009 other than needing a good cleaning. You are welcome to come out and drive and talk trucks so you can get a better idea of what you are looking for.
Some more details on that truck: original ww2 bed,not a replacement,troop seats apear to be original. The bed was sandblasted but not painted. But has no rot. the cab has no rust. The tan paint is flaking off everywhere. Lots of OD underneath. The frame is a chalky black color...no rust. Engine...
So just tell GL to take the engines and tranmissions out and sell them as kits. Ohh wait.... AM General is ahead of us on this.
