What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

That's a good point there. I have mud in my seat compartments too. If I was going to install an inverter I might put it inside something at least up to the level of the seat pan (to allow some ventilation). I've been keeping an eye out for some big plastic boxes to put my tools and stuff in...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Changed all the belts. Took a while due to cramped quarters and the new steering pump belts took no little bit of stretching to get on. Lots of small scratches on my arms. I forgot how "fun" close quarters belt replacements can be. I had intended to replace the steering pump with a rebuilt...

    2-3 shift

I have the same issue as bob69302, second to third shift in nearly instantaneous. 0-15 MPH in first, then second and then third a split second later. Is the modulator the issue, and how does one adjust it? I see in the TM a reference to checking it, but I can't find any details. The TM vol...

M998 bench seating options for rear middle seats

Royalpower beat me to it. Thecaptain's HMMWV has a back seat from a Suzuki Samurai. Rear Jeep CJ seats would also likely work. You can pay top dollar for new, or if you're near a salvage yard score something more affordable. You will want to add some brackets for the seats to bolt to for...

    B pillar rattle

On my HMMWV it was the d rings for the rear curtain smacking against the underside when the bouncing was just right. A couple of small adhesive backed foam chair foot pads gave them something soft to hit. Bulldogger

    Looking for this part

I twisted one up from a piece of coat hanger using the companion on the other side as a pattern. You can also scavenge one from elsewhere on the body as linhster notes. I used standard aluminum pop rivets to mount them back on. Holding up after 4 months in use. Bulldogger

    I want one.

Here is a great resource on what to expect out of Deuce ownership, if you're not overly familiar with them http://wowapi.net/m35a2/M35A2_experience.htm#Table_of_Contents_and_Menu Good luck! Bulldogger

    M998 HMMWV Rebuild/Repair Alexandria, VA

Point well-taken. Do you know a good source infidel? I already looked and found only New for ~$300 or more. The seal kit was only $7. If I could have found a decent condition pump for ~$100 I would buy it. Apparently the stock GM pump isn't up to snuff for this application, so has to be a...

    Members in Northern Virginia?

Checking in from Alexandria Virginia. I signed up a while back but never checked into this thread. Anybody got info or a link about the Labor Day weekend Grave's Mountain rally? I just found out about it, but it's not too late to adjust my schedule. I can actually drive my HMMWV that far...

    M998 HMMWV Rebuild/Repair Alexandria, VA

Also finished the oil cooler fins. Took a while. Back still hurts! Then I put a rubber shim under the Cadillac valve to help with the hissing noise some of us have. And a few little things, like lubricating the accelerator cable and such. I am going to tackle the steering pump next...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Hissing noise was indeed the Cadillac valve, whatever that is. I loosened the hose clamp and tucked a large folded up rubber band under it and tightened it back down. Noise dissipated over the drive to work. Thanks Patracy! Bulldogger

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Thanks! I did NOT enjoy doing it, but am glad I stuck with it since it should help the old girl stay cool. Lots of little things to do left. She seems to be running OK now, and accelerates better. The power steering pump is leaking and I think the hissing noise I hear when in the cab is from...

No guns in this post Finished the oil cooler fins. Took three evenings and a lot of hunching over. Glad to be done. Bulldogger

Bled the injectors. Can't say for sure that any were experiencing air blockage, but now I'm certain and that helps me feel better. We'll see how she runs tomorrow morning after cold startup. Also continued straightening oil cooler fins, about halfway done now. Bulldogger Update: seemed to run...
