My 1987 M998 has been doing fine. We went to Graves Mountain and had a blast last month.
Acted odd yesterday, so bear with me while I try to give you experts all the information I can...
Coming home Sunday evening from TheCaptain's place, I noticed after a long haul (25 miles maybe) at...
Agreed, normal. Don't feel bad for asking though, I didn't know about it until I asked!
That said, it should only last a minute or so and stop. If yours is going much longer, then yes, something wrong.

I have been looking at similar systems. The motorcycle clip-on communications boxes have a mike and speakers. I figured I'd shove them inside a set of inexpensive ear muffs and go. Just haven't gotten to it.
If you are looking for "cheap and/for now" there are wired intercom sets on Amazon...
Oh, I did do a little work on my own HMMWV yesterday I should take credit for. Before heading out to TheCaptain's place, I pulled the heater blower motor and fan out and cleaned it all up. There was lots of debris, sand mostly, in the heater blower plenum, and the fan was a little out of...
Thanks for those tips gents.
The thought occurred to us, but taking all that off sounded like even more work. I suppose once those coolant hoses and fitting come off once, and get replaced as needed, it's easier the second time.
TheCaptain is replacing all engine coolant hoses already, as...
Spent 4 hours yesterday afternoon helping TheCaptain tear off his water pump. Definitely a two man job. My advice is get two OTHER men to do it if you have one needing replacement.
Getting the fan off was the hardest part, besides having to break a lot of very rusty long-tight bolts and studs...
My stalling at low RPM at letoff of the pedal in my HMMWV was due to dirty injection pump from long sitting and low running time. Cleaning filters and running fuel treatment has completely cured it.
Sounds like you just need to drive her good and hard with your choice of treatment in the fuel...
I second PlastX, it worked well. You have to re-do it from time to time, but it does indeed work and is affordable. I also bought some 2mm clear boat vinyl when Hancock Fabrics was going out of business earlier this year and will stitch it in when things get annoying in terms of cleaning...
I made a grounding harness. Will have to wait to install until next week due to other obligations. Used 6 gauge wire from Home Depot. Had to use green bc they are perpetually out of black.
Made the connections from copper tubing, 1/4 and 3/8 for the terminations and one piece of 1/2 coupling...
Cabell,
The Facebook link seems broken. Maybe it's my computer firewall, but I can't find that page. Maybe one has to have a Facebook account? I don't book my face...

My son shouted that he'd seen a shooting star Saturday night. I missed it. Perhaps we'll schedule star-gazing next year.
It would be nice if we could arrange for the streetlights down the center of the campground to be shut off at some point, to improve visibility and general sleep-ease... I...
It was a blast. My son and I enjoyed it immensely. Had fun meeting all the SS'ers and their vehicles. Took rides and made drives in some of those trucks. The half-track was a highlight, but I enjoyed them all. My HMMWV had no breakdowns and ate up the trails like candy.
Don't have many...
TC Renegade .54, shooting patched round balls on top of 80-100 grains Pyrodex. Nice comfortable load. I'm an iron sights shooter and load by feel. I have been scoffed at by the centerfire primed and scoped-200+ grain guys, but I also tend to hit what I'm aiming at and don't need a spotting...
Cabell told me in response to a PM I sent with several questions that it's roughly 25 yards to 100 yards. I intend to bring some new to me rifles; Model 14, Model 1894, and my Dad's old .54 cal smoke pole.
See you there!

I disagree. Transmissions have complex innards, and like any mechanical assembly can be affected by time and neglect. I think mine forgot it had a second gear, i.e. internal valves or passageways were a little crudded up or some such (I did replace the filter and fluid). I feel certain I was...
Hey bob69302, I have the same problem as you, as noted previously in this thread. This weekend I did some driving, making sure to manually shift and make the trans use second gear when I wanted it. As of this morning, she now uses second gear longer! It is still a quick jump between 2-3 in...
