Mntsnow's recovery and building of The Beast

Mike, leave it solid green, that's different. Oh, and I would probably get rid of the CTIS as it can be problematic. Nice truck. When you get ahold of me next week you'll have to let me know what you got it for and shipping cost. Great score though.

    led headlights

I have a M923 with 24 volt lights and have checked on the LED ones. They are pricy and now "Those Military Guys" are making 24 volt HID kits and that will be the way I go when I'm ready. If my lights were 12 volt I would just do halogen.

    Dead Transmission on M923A1

I have had a trans guy tell me that he does not recommend a multi-weight oil in the tran(15W40). I am just going to stay with the 10W oil. It has worked fine in service for 30 years and that makes it good enough for me.

Comrades, in Kalifornia you must do as the czar says. LOL

    led headlights

Isn't the CUCV lighting still 12 volt? If so just go to your local parts store and pick up a set of halogen lights.

    Chinese MV's at Aviation Museum...

Gotta love the white wall tires. The drive system for the tandem rear axles is unusual to say the least. Cool stuff, thanks.

    Prototype 3 ton?

What, no spare tire? Looks like a 12' bed too. I think that's nicer than a bob.

M923 with roll cage and tall hardtop

I wouldn't mind a cab either. If nothing, for parts. They had the new relocated gauges in them so I would bet those are complete and ready to set on the truck.

School me on the Bows and Stays for a 923A2

The front and rear of the troop seat pieces have retaining pins on the bedsides. These have to be pulled out for the stays to fully seat down into the troop seats. On the bolts, my curved pieces are bolted/screwed to the stays and the bows are held with the rotating lock piece. You may also look...

    Cold Weather Starting NHC-250

I had a real hard time starting my M923 last Saturday in the snow and cold. Found out that my Ether injection system had an empty bottle. Did get it started with spray can of ether and today I ordered 2 ether cylinders for the truck. My tow truck spends it's time plugged in, but that is not an...

    M927 cargo question

If your going to make a container a permanent mount on the truck I would think you could reduce the height by removing the bed and mounting directly to the frame.

5 ton Buying tips-Help for Newbies-What to look for and what to be prepared to fix.

Well, 2 and 3 tend to be personal preferences. Me, I stay away from CTIS, prefer 11.00X20s, like the NHC250 over the turbo 6CTA. But that's me, others will differ in their view.
