With the winch mounting bolts a little loose it slid right in. I was on one side and "soldier b" on the other. A little wiggling and it slid in farely easy.
Sorry, I didn't take pics. They are the 2 rear most bolts on both frame extensions. I just made a simple template off of the extensions referenced from the two bolts that hold the cross member for the hood. I drilled the holes(1/2 inch) and when the extensions were in I just ran the drill in...
I'm not a pro on air brakes, but I would say check the drier and make sure that it is in good service with a good drier cartridge on it. Likely more important would be to check, test and service the cooling system. I flushed mine a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty nasty. Info can be found...
I saw one on GL recently that listed it as an A2 but the pics was not of an A2 even though the data plate pictured listed BMY A2. Just your Gov at work I guess. I would check the ID# on the data plate with the one on the frame.
If you have a "Harbor Freight Tools" near you they are a good source for a 1" impact and a air over hydraulic jack. You can pick up a truck "bud" socket at a good truck supplier for the impact. As far as use, verify direction, put on nut, pull trigger. Do hang on with both hands as I have had it...
As a wrecker operator I have been trained to lift the drive wheels off of the ground. If this cannot be done remove the drive shaft. I wouldn't want to have to buy a trans or transfer case. Always better safe than sorry.
There are 4 holes that need to be drilled on non-winch truck frames. The frame extensions have 2 holes on each side at the rear that will need to be located and drilled for installation of the winch frame extensions.
I'll be watching as I am putting a winch on my M923. I already have the winch mounted on the front and now need to get all the hydraulics and pto transferred from the donor truck. I will have to modify the control box as the complete winch system is coming off a M932A2. I will also have to...
They have the same trans, so pto should also be the same. The only thing I have found different so far is the control box, now I haven't got the pto and hydraulics in yet so we are going to find out for sure. I did have to drill 4 holes in the frame that weren't there on a non-winch truck.
Just curious what you pros have to say. I am installing a 20,000# winch on my M923 that came off of a M932A2 I bought for parts. The question is, does that mean I now have a M925 or is it just a M923 with a winch? I personally don't care to change the data plate like some guys seem to do. Just...
