I don't see a valid reason to go full synthetic oils in the 5 tons or any MV unless you are using it commercially and racking up miles like mad. Even then it may not be of much value. JMHO
I have had a trans rebuilder tell me NOT to run a multi-weight oil in the trans so I will run a straight 10wt. I can get it from an oil distributor. Most distributors will sell to the public, they aren't just wholesalers.
Check batteries, check all connections are clean and tight. If that all looks and checks good I would pull the starter and have it tested. Just cause it's new doesn't mean it's problem free. I've been a mechanic long enough to know that new parts fail too.
Ya, do what jw4x4 said and you'll find it. Several guys have talked about it and a few have reported on doing it. They usually talk about it smoothing the idle out and some say they get a little more HP.
10w40 or 15w40 will be good in engine as long as it is class'd for diesel engines. I have had a trans builder say NOT to run multi weight oils(10w40 etc.) in trans. so I will stick with a straight 10wt there unless it is red then Dexrom III. On the tires you should be able to run the same...
Tire pressures should be in the TM.
Engine oil I use 15W40 that is diesel spec and capacity is on you dash data plate and in TM.
Trans oil I stayed with a 10wt eng oil. Check your fluid on the dipstick. If it is red it is Dexron III, if yellow/light brown its 10wt. Also if it looks clean you...
It's one thing to recommend to read the TM, it's something completely different to give someone a bunch of crap about a question. The TM's can be VERY vague and a straight answer from some one who has the answer is a lot more constructive than some of the BS I've seen slung around here. If you...
And they chase away another new member to the MV club. That's to bad, some of you really need to learn how to be more constructive and less destructive. People ask questions to learn, not to be abused.
You guys really need to play nice. Stahl1 started the thread asking a legitimate question. He never said they were 6 volt batteries, that was in post #2 by 61sleepercab that said 6 volt batteries. Try to be nice, you may chase away any new members.
