Welcome to the Outfit!
Sounds like you have been around here long enough to already know about the TM Section. Chances are that you know we are a bunch of Picture Hounds too, so I am patiently waiting to see what you end up with. When your new sweetie shows up, let's start your own thread...

Hi Matt,
Welcome to the Outfit!
Happy to see that you are part of the group! When you get your New-To-You truck - we need to get you setup with your own thread in the CUCV Section. That will give you a spot where you can record how it looked when you bought it. AND as you work along...

Engines... Not my wheelhouse.
A place to buy and sell parts and vehicles - or parts for sale - We got that in the CLASSIFIEDS Section ! Link Below

That crushed (ground) asphalt is pretty fantastic. I have a nice place beside our parking lot for my small green army. I wasn't really expecting weeds to grow up through it - so if you didn't think about that - you might want to keep some RoundUp or something similar handy next summer when...

Yeah @GopherHill ... I was hoping to hear back from @DMack to hear if the TM helped - and if there really was a lever to push or pull. I don't own one of these yet, but just for fun - I sure would like to have a big honkin fire truck.

Speaking About Taxes...
I'm not sure what I stumbled in to watching YouTube, but lately I have been getting recommendations for Tax shorts. These little sixty second "shorts" assume a $100.000 in earnings. Then each show is for a state. So far, the worst I have found it California at 49%...

Hi Levi,
I agree with @ToddJK about the TM's. Having them will definitely help when you are working a problem. Using them on a PC and using the SEARCH function will help find what you are looking for. Flipping hundreds of pages is intimidating, search levels that playing field a little. My...

Yeah. Son put some of that stuff in his house.
It has been there for several years and it still looks as good as the day he installed it.
On the other hand - his house doesn't move or bounce or twist...

Sure looks neat. Yeah, I have no idea what holds it down... Wonder if the snap lock is at a slight angle and that helps keep it pressed in a downward direction? Still, seems like some sort of shoe molding would be required around the edges.

Welcome to the Outfit!
Since you have a little time, "belly up to the bar" and grab some TM's (Technical Manuals) to start learning about your New-To-You truck. TM's are in the Present Conflict section. Link below:

Gee... That is a "-10" TM on steroids. 8 hours worth of training time before you get cut loose with one. Hmmm. Almost wonder if the auction houses wouldn't do the world a favor if every buyer got one of these with their truck.
Put it in the air filter box - wedged against the intake -...

Welcome to the Outfit!
I have to echo @Guruman 's comment about drive lines. These trucks do just fine - if they are balanced and the slip yoke and the other end are indexed. They should be "keyed" but don't count on what a guy with steel marbles in a sandbox can't break.
For...

I can't speak to a #3 Grommet - but I know for sure that a #2 Grommet measures 3/8 of an inch inside. Got one laying here on my desk. Whipped out a ruler and checked. Outside dimension is 3/4 inches.

Used to be that hitting those piston tops (NOT in the ring lands!) with a bead blaster was a good thing... Cleanliness is next to godliness in motor repairs.
.
I'm with you! Manual gearbox is just so nice. That is almost a lost art... At 62, I still enjoy stepping through the gears on a manual transmission. The left leg still works just fine and my hearing works well enough to hear the sounds that sync the driver with the truck.

Here in the North Carolina, they set appointments and will inspect vehicles. They are pretty good folks too. Willing and Interested is a nice way to describe them. Their official role isn't ticket writing and most of the guys who do that work do actually have some mechanical aptitude. Part...
