M1084A1 M1084 M977 MHC Grove Material Handling Crane Troubleshooting Problems

. The DB9 connection inside the box might be a way to program the eeprom rather than having to remove it? Or maybe to update whatever software runs the tilt (PAT) box maybe? I don't see an eeprom on the board pictures above. Maybe it is on the back side of the board?

    Horn button?

. Same as with most other military trucks. Windows - up or down - rain or shine. Looks to me that the window was down more often than not when your truck was in service. That metal ring is the contact that gets grounded when you press the button that you don't have these days.

    Steering wheel stuck on

. And load the thing up with some penetrating oil @ramdough . AND it will help to give the puller a love tap every now and again to help the wheel move. Tension and Tap (repeat as necessary) For whatever reason - guessing IDGARA - the windows aren't regularly rolled up when the military...

    Horn button?

. The big plus is that the hand operated air valve can ease out a sound. The electric solenoid is ON or OFF. Doesn't matter a lot on the smaller higher pitched horns. The ones that sound like a fog horn that you can ease out a sound from are really cool to have with the manual valve. Wiring...

MV of the Month August 2022

. For what it's worth, Pat is tending to school related things with his son. He will be back in the driver's seat again soon. He has made time to deal with a complaint for ADS on the site for folks who aren't paying users. Not trying to "kiss up" or anything like that... Just trying to...

MEP-804A Unidentified loose connection around fuel float assembly.

. I can't answer for the MEP, but on a lot of trucks there is a ground wire under one of those bolts around the fuel sending unit. That blue and that red connector are most likely not factory connectors - and in your last picture - somebody bought the harbor freight cheap a$$ crimpers. The...

    700R4 success, I think.

. Well... At least you can solder really well. Sucks that it broke but at least you could fix it.

M-817 Greasing steering knuckle axle joint

. Adding grease to the steering knuckles is by way of a Zerk fitting on a block of metal held in place with 4 bolts. Grease fitting is in the middle of that plate on above the boots. Regular grease will make you (your wallet) and your truck happy. Nice rubber boots will keep the grease inside...

    MUTT question

. We have a couple of members here that create "sticker sets" or "stencil sets" for jeeps and trucks. ePay is also loaded up with sets of stickers for former military vehicles.

    MUTT question

. I understand that the radio might have been a RT-524 or a R-442. To be honest, that is just from reading that I have done on this site. Hopefully @SCSG-G4 can give more technically correct answers.

Going to hook at my first HMMWV Today!

. The key is that "sitting around doing nothing" is actually harder on a vehicle than being driven daily. Almost like people. If you sit around and don't get up and move around - eventually you will grunt and groan when you try to stand up. And the longer you do that the worse it gets...

    MUTT question

. It seems that a lot of radio devices are installed at the unit level. I don't know that there is a specific side of the truck (vehicle) for the antenna to be installed on. I can say that most of the trucks that I have seen with whips are on the back right.

    MUTT question

. Welcome to the Outfit! We have the TM's (Technical Manuals) for the MUTT available as a free download. Don't hesitate to spend a little time reading. Especially the -10 version that is similar to the owner's manual in a civilian vehicle. I'm sure it has words of warning about safety in...
