SHOWOFF
I do what Maddawg suggests: I use a big prybar with a block of wood under it to pry them up & out. Worked every time.
Of course if I had a crane or knuckleboom I'd use it in a heartbeat. Every chance I got.
WOW, the new time-out feature is even shorter than it used to be...type a quick paragraph, and you are already signed out & Auto-Save does NOT carry over.
Auto-Save doesn't work for beans for me either. But now I figured out I can type a few words and post it; after several "Server Not Found"...
Had a great time in the Veteran's Day Parade yesterday through downtown Las Vegas. We brought up the rear, and it was headed by a fellow named Jim McGeachy with his restored & running MULE (it had electric start, so I'm not sure what model that was). A group of 5 or 6 Jeeps from the...
The axles are stock Ford 1-ton; the rear is definitely a Sterling, I can't tell if the front is a solid axle (rare for 80-86 Fords) or the more-common TTB. Either way the springs & axles are Ford stockers.
Very interesting conversion. I have an 86 GMC 2500 my Grandfather converted to a...
YUP, power pack's gotta be removed to change starter. Even though my memories of doing such a thing are more than 25 years old, they are still vividly memorable... If I lived closer I'd give you a hand with the M60A1, I still remember a lot about them.
GREAT job on keeping these magnificent...
This morning when my wife & I were warming the Deuce up to take it to the DMV, I noticed a sudden gush of oil draining from the driver's side of the engine...I grabbed a drain pan quick and shut the truck down. It appeared to be coming from the oil filters. After removing the 2 oil filter...
You got a heck of a deal there! Winch, springer passenger seat base (with a good-looking seat to match), awesome tires, no rust, no major damage....great score!!!
As for your master cylinder, these trucks tend to lose brake pedal pressure when they sit for long periods of time. Try bleeding...
Thanks! I like Panaca, I would love to live in Pioche if real estate wasn't so expensive there....
Back in the early 1990s, I passed on a chance to pick up a home & lot in Caliente for only the back taxes owed; they were really hurting after UP pulled their shops & facilities from the area...
Finished lots of little details today: ran the new horn wire & wrapped it for protection; installed the horn button in the new steering wheel; ran a separate ground wire from the flasher lever on the steering column to a good grounding point on the firewall; relocated the flasher unit from the...
The 8.2 was a 4-stroke diesel made by Detroit called the "fuel miser." I hate them. Definitely NOT a 2-stroke; while the Series 50 & 60 4-cycle diesels are great engines, the 8.2 had issues.
I believe that Ford used them in a lot of their medium-duty trucks as well.
Got the steering column (uppper & lower) installed today, as well as the steering wheel. I opted to cut the steering opening in the front of the cab wall much larger to allow for more leg room under the steering wheel.
Nobody makes more work for themselves better than I do...the firewall fix...
