I ended up buying this for transfer and transmission work:

I have a 5-ton, so I suspect you could safely downsize to this...
Hm, every one of those links that porkysplace posted gives me a 404 error.
Here is the link I use in the Steel Soldiers forum: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?121483-TM-s-for-M809-Series-5-Tons
That link will give you everything that porkysplace spelled out.
Ha, now that's a laugh! Even the locations in the cluster aren't standard! Your layout is totally different than mine.
I'm sure the grunts that put them back together just stick 'em in any spot as long as the hoses or wires can reach.
Get a buddy for an extra set of ears/hands. If the tick remains static while the engine spins faster, it seems impossible that it's related to any rotating piece of the engine (cam, valves, crank, etc.)
These trucks are loud. It makes it hard to audibly troubleshoot, I agree.
One guy posted a...
I've always been careful to give ample room in front of semis when passing and getting in front of them but yesterday I did get a small taste of how stupidly passenger car drivers interact with large trucks. It was eye-opening.
I've re-read since you first mentioned the tick and I'm not seeing any reference to RPM's. I played your videos and you only recorded the tick at idle.
Does the speed of the tick remain static or is it tied to engine RPM's?
It's difficult to diagnose by video but the tick does seem high in...
I have a 1-ton chain fall that I'd like to use to hoist heavy items into the bed of my truck.
I know I could buy a small grove crane but that's kind of a permanent installation. I'm wondering if there's a way to set up a frame near the tail gate that could support at least a half ton. Something...
Now this is a socket:
Bought my supply of pellet fuel for the winter. It only took me 2 hours to fetch them and unload them into my garage when it normally takes at least 4 trips through the winter in my Outback. This was a big convenience and time saver.
It's a trick threading that truck...
I agree for the reasons mentioned, also I have no interest in de-plumbing all those hard lines just to replace them with electric senders. Nothing's leaking, so no need to mess with any of it.
It's good to know that I can source new, direct-read gauges.
I like how you used old style tail lights for illumination.
In order to fit 4 people in the cab, did you replace the seats with something more modern? What did you do for seat belts?
Ah... after bouncing to a few vendor sites, that appears to be the case. At some point, the military began installing senders and electrical gauges. I guess my truck is just older.
Big Mike's says you can buy this pressure gauge and use it for pretty much any fluid system where readings are...
Interesting! I just checked my truck yesterday and the air and oil pressure are both mechanical with a hard line for the oil gauge and a rubber line attached to a hard line for the air gauge.
The gauges are totally identical. Identical part numbers, no "oil can" symbol on the face. The only...
