The truck only had one previous non-military owner, and they did nothing with the truck. I'm probably mistaken about the oil pressure gauge. I'll feel around under the dash and find out. I did feel the hard air line for the air gauge under there.
Don't give up the ship!
If you sell, that'll be one fewer person in Maryland for me to hang out with. Our community is slim enough! Seriously, once you shake the bugs out it'll be as reliable as your daily driver.
Ok, cool. I wasn't sure if senders varied across vehicles (HMMWV, M35, etc) Also, I believe the pressure gauges on the 809's are capillary action with a hard line, not electrical senders. The temp gauge will be an electrical sender. I'll check with CARNAC to see what the backs of the gauges...
As the topic states- Are they common application or are they vehicle specific?
CARNAC has a couple for sale that I thought I would snap up for my spare parts pile. He was unsure if they were compatible with the 809 series. Please take a look and let me know what you think.
Oertheedge21- Dude, you are tenacious. I've really enjoyed this thread and I'll keep following along.
You mentioned one radiator hose being ice cold. In a properly warmed up engine, there is usually some warmth after everything's been circulating awhile. I realize you've shot the engine with an...
Just ordered the rest of the parts and tools needed to service the front axle:
12 ton jack stands
inner bearing grease seals
wheel bearing lock nut sockets (OTC-1917 & 1919)
I ordered all the other parts a little while ago such as boots, axle oil seas (just in case).
I ordered a new (metal...
Thanks for that. Ok, I'll steer clear of the cannonball and opt for Detroits if I decide to install locker(s).
A winch is good, but winches are for getting un-stuck. Lockers prevent you from getting stuck in the first place. ;) Still, your point is taken and I will investigate some of the...
I haven't taken my 5t off road yet but I've seen what can happen. Lots of SS videos of Haspin and Rausch Creek online of some big-time quagmire. I don't have a winch.
Just once or twice, I want to attend the Rausch Creek rally. It's a bit of a haul for me down here in Annapolis.
I'll bet...
I've read this thread from start to finish and I have a few questions.
I've owned 4x4's in the past, but never had a locker. I understand the difference between an air or electrically actuated locker and an "overrun" locker like Detroit or Cannonball.
What I don't exactly understand is, what...
While I am not surprised to hear about a neighbor who was "offended" by a green truck, I am a little surprised at the Memphis county and municipal government's attitude. What you're describing is practically unlawful seizure and use of your personal property. Not at all what I expect from the...
The initial post is a bit ambiguous.
WHERE have you lost brake lights- The trailer? The truck? Both?
IF brake lights are lost on both, What happens when you unplug the trailer? Do the truck brake lights function again? Are they still out?
What is the advantage of retrofitting 809 series trucks with T1138 transfer cases? Is it a parts availability issue or is there some kind of performance improvement?
Edit: Nevermind, I found OPCOM's old thread a few doors down.
Phew, that's a lot of work. Holy crow, I just noticed you're in Maryland so I could actually see these at some point. The purist in me says "aw, bummer" but the realist in me says "they are running and driving, so people can see them." I can't imagine that parts for Mites are plentiful.
