My first 6.2 was a 1983 civ GMC that had the cast iron rockers. After the lifters failed and starter bolt broke the block beyond repair at about 289k miles and 13 years of driving it everywhere, I took out the cast iron rockers and installed them in a surplus J-Code 6.2 that I refurbished.

So why did gm decide to not make them anymore?
What are the common failures?
How can they be improved or modified to work better?
Anyone have experience with them?
What years did gm have them in the 6.2?
Etc...
Not to be rude but I did not say to by pass the relay.
This 50 amp switch has worked well for me for over 12 years. I once had a flip toggle switch that accidentally got left on over night and melted the glow plugs into one of my motors.
I do agree a 50 amp switch might be over kill to engage...
Got all the banks parts in the mail and on the table. The HX35W is sooooo much bigger then the banks turbo. I am afraid to touch it because it would blow my hand off like it would with the heads lol!
Still need the mechanical pump plate with the bung for the Banks turbo oil drain pipe...
Many thanks to Steelsoldiers members Richingalveston and Camkillers for making this rare opportunity of selling me an almost full 6.2L banks turbo kit!
I decided to run with a banks kit because I feel much safer with the lower boost and reliability of the kit. Also there is much less...
Thanks man! Keep your eyes peeled for the Banks build coming soon!
with no head studs I would keep her at 5-8 psi to be safe. If not, you may be pulling your motor anyway:)
theres your problem! 14v the G60s are self regulated at 10.5v tops per plug.
when 1 plug goes out it increases the voltage to the other plugs.
check the resistance on all 8 plugs
the other problem could be the glow plug resister. If that has problems then your whole system has problems.

Hello! Great start!
Diy4x.com has a lot of stuff too for your cucv needs. Cheaper in some aspects but same if not better quality then ORD.
I have both ORD and Diy4x parts.
Under my fender flares you would see a lot of cutting on the front fenders to clear 40” tires. Right now I roll 37” which...
You are in luck! I have a custom 3” dual exhaust system with flow master mufflers I will be selling because I am doing a turbo with 4” pipes. $250+ shipping. Can cut it up which will be cheaper freight or ship as a whole(More expensive) Pm me if interested
Oh yea comes with tips and think it...
That is good to know! Many years ago I installed phantom 2 gauges on my Diy4x dash with the tach and could never get a good signal. I will try this for sure as it seems cheaper:)
I might have a few dual alternator brackets to do the serpentine set up. I have boxes and boxes of 6.2 parts on my...
I would go with an optimizer 6.5 TD. Or P400. Keep it below 15 psi boost and smile and waive.
used 6.5 or 6.2 hybrid TD no higher then 10psi boost if on a budget.
I was thinking...
With my 1995 6.5 TD donor with 208,000 miles that still runs top...
Should I drop that 6.5 in my M1009 instead of doing a 6.2/6.5 hybrid?
Would I need to put a 6.2 oil pan on the 6.5?
Will the exhaust manifolds clear the frame with Off Road Design Motor mounts?
What would...
