I forgot the name of these 3 sensors on the 6.2. Some help please?
Driver front inline with glow plugs?
Passenger rear inline with glow plugs?
Driver top rear next to oil pressure sensor?
Step 26.
Radiator Removal.
Use an 8mm socket, wrench and disconnect the heater core hoses from the radiator and crossover pipe from the motor. Wire tie them to the battery bolt in an upright position so coolant does not come out. If the hoses can not be removed by hand, use an adjustable...
Step 25.
Draining Radiator.
Next I am going to show you how to drain your coolant from your radiator without spilling 1 drop! 😎
Get about 2-3 feet of 1/4 inch hose and a 1/4 inch hose connector and 2 clean 5 gallon buckets from parts store.
Use wire cutters and cut the 1/4” hose connector to...
Step 24.
Oil Cooler line removal/Transmission cooler line removal.
Get under your ride with a rag and 7/8 standard wrench or 22mm wrench (7/8 fits better) and disconnect the oil cooler lines. Have the bucket and rag ready in case some oil comes out. Usually not much oil will come out because...
Step 23 continued...
Use 13mm socket and wrench and unbolt the top 4 radiator supports.
Use 10mm socket and wrench and unbolt the 2 bolts holding top radiator cover.
Remove the supports and top cover as one whole piece and put it on your work bench. Place the bolts into your labeled radiator...
Ok. Great advice! I’ll remove the precups with a wood stick to prevent damage to the precups and put them in the 6.5 spare parts box and toss the cracked heads. Again...
Jobs done! Easier then I thought! Just saved myself at least $120 on bigger precups!
Then I went to my work and used a 3...
Step 23.
Fan shroud/Radiator support removal.
Use a 10mm socket and wrench and unbolt the coolant reserve overflow tank hose clamp from fan shroud and unbolt the other top 3 bolts on top of the fan shroud.
Use needle nose pliers and disconnect the coolant reserve overflow tank hose from...
Step 22.
Draining Oil/Block Heater Cord Removal
Drain oil. Use 14mm wrench doubled up with 16mm wrench to remove oil pan plug. Have 5 gallon bucket or pan ready.
Unplug block heater. Make sure block heater cord will not be in way of motor during removal.
Loosen oil filter with hands or...
A couple of the precups are cracked. I read once on the diesel page that it should not effect anything? Can anyone confirm this?
Also found some cracks between some of the valves. Good or bad?
At work today, someone recycled an early model 6.5. 506 block. Broken crank and a huge crack starting from the bottom all the way up. Wicked!
The heads looked good. I might just take the heads. The precups look bigger too.
Been seeing a lot of 506 blocks with cracked blocks and broken cranks...
I noticed the 95 6.5 has the alternator on passenger side and 96 6.5 has the alternator on driver side.
I’ve never seen a 6.2 with the 6.5 turbo set up OEM. The 599 block is for sure a 6.5.
It is claimed that the 599 is the best block for the 6.5 years.
I like your body work you did! You did...
The question was in my mind all day today...
Would a Hx35w fit a banks exhaust manifold?
Sure enough it does!
Now my mind is spinning!
Weird thoughts going threw my head...
6.5 lower end with 6.2 heads and banks manifold with Hx35w...
Then I was thinking some more...
The 6.2 heads have...
Step 21.
Using a long socket 14mm, wrench and long pipe, under driver side, unbolt the first lower transmission bolt and place it in the bag.
Get on Passenger side and unbolt the first lower transmission bolt and place it in the bag.
Disconnect vacuum line from vacuum modulator and bend the...
Step 20.
Gloves and goggles still on?
Using a 14mm standard depth socket, wrench and small pipe, get under your ride on the driver side and unbolt the second up transmission bolt.
Take off the orange wire support and put the bolt in a sandwich bag. Label bag as Transmission, Torque Converter...
Step 19.
Note: Since you loosened the vacuum pump earlier, it would help to twist it for easier access to this area. Pic 4.
On the driver side top rear of the motor, disconnect the Glow Plug Inhibit Switch and label the wire and glow plug inhibit switch as S4.
While you are there, disconnect...
Step 18.
On passenger side top firewall, remove the positive and negative terminal covers with your hands and place the covers on your work bench.
Use a 13mm deep socket and wrench, unbolt the top positive center terminal. Take wire off and put the nut and washer back on. Label as 01.
Use a...
Step 17 continued...
Disconnect the bigger main red wire from the clamp hooks that is bolted to your oil pan.
Label Big red wire and Solenoid nut as Start 1
Label Smaller wire and Solenoid nut as Start 2
Put the starter bolts in starter and place starter on work bench.
From the top back of...
Step 17.
With your gloves and goggles still on...
Using a 15mm deep socket, wrench and long extension, unbolt the 2 starter bolts. Just before unbolting the second bolt, put your hand on the starter so it does not swing down hard when unbolted.
With your right hand hold the starter up and...
