    M1009 Trip Report (MPG)

Oh, and I normally avg about 18-20 mpg and got 22.5 on a trip once (but I was empty and no trailer, 65 mph).

    M1009 Trip Report (MPG)

I avg 64 mph during the trip, and monitored my speed via GPS, as my speedo has always been off a bit (tires didn't make a difference). For some reason during this last trip, both up down and back at about the halfway point, the speedo needle decided to just jump around all over the place. I...

    M1009 Trip Report (MPG)

Just thought I would post about the mpg I got during my recent trip. Truck is mechanically stock, with the exception of a set of BFG's in 32x11.50x15's, pumped up to 45 psi cold. Covered 890 miles over 4 days, CT to MD and back again, with two days of running around in the burbs (stop and go)...

    More fuel pump woes.

So the lesson here may be to purchase a pushrod at the same time one buys a pump. Better to have your bases covered, yes?

    1984 M1009 spedometer broke

I have a dumb question, but what do you use to lube the speedo?

    Heater core replacement

I'll respectfully disagree. Installed correctly, the aluminum one I used (The Spectra Premium 94553) is just as good and put out just as much heat as the original. Just make sure the air flow is going THROUGH the heater core and not around it and you should be fine. Also, some of the old...

    Heater core replacement

Just an FYI, I did use the metal/foil duct tape, but I covered it with a "felt" type pipe wrap (found it being clearanced at Walmart, $1.00 for 25' of it). I didn't want the metal tape "interacting" with any wires or circuits under the dash.

this a good truck for the price or not

Check it out carefully. If it was used to plow with, it could have drivetrain or frame issues. Oh, and check for rust too. Good luck.

    Heater core replacement

OK, I finally got a break and made the permanent repair to my heater core. When I purchased it, it was leaking, but ever so slightly (a whole nother story). This past week it finally gave up the ghost. Thank heavens for this site. Anyway, I thought I would share a few things that I learned...

    White smoke

Asked the same question last year. It's normal, if it clears up after a few seconds.

    Original Heater Core Part Number

Thank you DH. I was in the TM and saw the number, but I guess I didn't understand how to break it down. So, if I am reading this and your information correctly, the 4th grouping on the line is the actual GM/civy part number......correct?

    Original Heater Core Part Number

Thank you DH. I thought those #in the TM's were Cage Code or NSN's.

    Original Heater Core Part Number

Does anyone know what the ORIGINAL Part Number was for the 1986 M1009 heater core. I have found someone who has a few NOS ones squirreled away, but the part numbers vary. Thanks !

    CUCV seat belt differences

Try the HMMVV ones that were for sale on the boards here. They fit nicely.

    Coldest starting temp.

Some simple pipe insulation shoved in-between the grill opening is a good fix for that. Simple, fast and easily removable should it get warmer out. Works like a charm and you can hardly notice it.
