Is it safer to wear seatbelts, or not?

Most people who don't want to wear a seat belt are motivated by resentment that use is mandatory. They then justify not wearing one by saying its safer not to have one. It isn't. The odds of being randomly flung clear without a seatbelt are far less than the odds of being ejected and squished...

M936 - Parking Brake, Continuous Buzzer?

You need to be running more rpm for the hydraulics in order to avoid transmission damage. 1600 is good....

Tools to carry for busting MTVR tires?

Not something that you really want to consider roadside. And at $20/tire, as cheap as I am.... this is something that I pay to have the tire place do. If forced to, I remove the outer half of the wheel, then flip it over and mash on the tire with a forklift. Seating them is well within the...

Bought a M929A2 today, I changed the oil before starting & found 2 Quarts of anti-freeze; assume blown Head Gasket?

Not quad 6v in series . (At least almost certainly not). 4 x 12v. Series and parallel.

    Mixing tire brands on truck

I've done it. 3000 mile road trip. Not a big deal. Probably makes a difference somewhere, but well to the right of the decimal point.

    Roadside lug nut tool options...

For changing a tire on the road what i want to have along - 1) a couple of jacks, 20ton preferred. 8ton will do. 2) geared lug wrench. 3) cribbing. 4) breaker bar with cheater pipe and socket. You can get by on less. But this is what I want to have. Where you'll run into problems is...

    Mixing tire brands on truck

    Yeah. It's fine.

    Roadside lug nut tool options...

l like the military issue geared lug wrench. No jerking. Just an extreme amount of torque and off they go. The trucks don't make enough air to run air tools. Electrics are generally too puny to rely on them. And can fail.

    Which bottle jack?

Carry two....not just one and cribbing. Consider - you have to start off low enough to get under a flat 16.00. And you have to end up high enough to fit an inflated 16.00. Most jacks wont have enough travel to do this. And you can't add cribbing once the truck is on the jack.

Bought a M929A2 today, I changed the oil before starting & found 2 Quarts of anti-freeze; assume blown Head Gasket?

A spray can of ether for $5 from the truck stop will tell you if you have fuel problems or something else. You can sit in the driver's seat with the door open and spray it over your left shoulder at the intake stack while cranking. Regarding fuel cut off- pulling the cable kills it by...

Did it fire on ether? Zip tie the solenoid in the run position or get rid of it entirely... Edit - I missed the last hour's worth of posts when i first made this one. Strange. Anyway, solenoid not required to be present. Causes no problems running without it and just using the kill cable.

Has anyone performed a M200A1 trailer brake conversion?

Offroad and low speed? With a 1ton pickup truck? Total weight about 7k? Who needs brakes? Fine as it is. JMHO

    M1102 and LMTV compatibilty

Bolt pattern is different - they dont use the same wheels or tires. But a 1078 will tow an 1102 just fine.

What date codes are on your Humvee tires?

2003. They look fine. They aren't out of round or weather checked. Drove from KS to GA and back on them. If they didn't pop then, they're probably ok.

I won at Auction.... Next steps

This is exactly the case. Army trucks get off road branded paperwork. USMC trucks get clean unbranded paperwork.
