time to pull the heads and see what's up. could be it's just the gaskets, that is a common problem with the older style gaskets that most trucks probably still have on them.

ron, the multifuels top of torque curve is 1900 rpm, after that power drops off. when the same engine was used in white tractors, etc, gov was set for 2200 rpm max. engines in military vehicles are expendable, and many come with govs set too high, but for private owners i would never run it past...
??? paul is absolutely right and is just giving helpful info to those who just don't know. at least he didn't say that you can use 30 or 40 wt motor oil in the trans and transfer, giving me the chance to say it. yes i have used it for 15 years. as far as lock wire, i don't know where anyone has...
it should be mentioned that when you replace the disc you have to resurface the flywheel. it is not an option with metalic pads. if you don't, your clutch will slip.

with the od gears i got the best mpg at 55, 12 i think i remember, and around 10 at 60 mph. it really is a matter of rpm and the very poor efficienty of this really old design engine.

a detroit has an entirely different fuel system and cannot be compared in any way to the one on a deuce. comparing the flow from the injectors, to the return at the tank is also completely inaccurate. the flow at the tank includes the cooling flow from the HH. remove the 1/4" line from the...
new injectors or those in very good condition would probably have almost no fuel at the return line while worn injectors might have more. basicly there would be a very limited amout of fuel in the return and there should be almost no pressure as it should just flow back to the tank unimpeded.

as the fuel pressure is applied under a small plunger with a needle valve on the bottom end and a very strong spring on the top, the pressure lifts the plunger and fuel is injected. at the same time because of the close tolerances a very small amount of fuel passes by the plunger and gets on the...
seems to me the ideal solution would be a fan clutch but i don't believe anyone has ever found one that can be adapted in the close quarters provided. the rad 'could' be moved 1" forward maybe. anyone have any leads?

evap ebay #310230532684, compressor ebay #190526391870 (just a standard sanden sd508 with o ring fittings and 2 belts) condenser i don't see right now, but it was a 24" by 14" universal, i used a fairly large reciever/drier from local parts store. one front mount of the compressor will go where...
tom, i got that number and it did not fit at all. it had to be forced in the groove and then the length was a real issue. probably from a different batch or manufacturor, but the fram gasket is made for the fram housing. some may be lucky and some not.
plus if you have to pay shipping it's way...
yes they are the same, and probably for many other gen sets as well. just order them from the store, tire & lube department. free shipping, took about 3 days and about .64¢ each. copper washers at any auto parts store worth your time.

thanks clinto, i recently upgraded the evaporator to 22,220 btu, and now have 28° temp on coils. even with the cab basicly uninsulated (hard top) it is real nice on a 98° day. all for around $600.

of course the grease does not really lube it very well, but it also won't leak out! why not just replace the seal? it's not that hard, just time consuming.

after you weld the drag link, i suggest you split a piece of chrome molly tubing and weld it over the link by welding the seams to the link, but do not weld the ends. keep in mind if you ever get a dot inspection, they might be quite upset about welded steering components. in many cases you can...
right, marti has it backwards! he may have good luck, but he is using the very old style gaskets. and they are not hard to find, i buy 50 at a time right from the manufacturer.
