something else failed first to cause this damage. also i doubt the mainshaft 5th would still be good after running that way. plus lots of metal in brngs etc.

you are all missing one important point. if run on straight gas the ip will quickly fail. gas is only an emergency fuel when lives are at risk. it must be mixed with significant amounts of diesel to not cause any damage. fuel is the ONLY thing that lubes the ip piston which makes 6000 strokes...
WILL NOT WORK. even with stock tires, that would be 82 mph at 2500 rpm. not even close to enough power unless you add another engine! and at $3600 you would have to be crazy.

the axle is pinned to the block which is pinned to the spring. it cannot move anywhere. the ubolts should be straightened and retightened. otherwise no problem.

if you think that was a high price, search 'military' on ebay and sort by highest first. it is downright amusing / astonishing what people think they will get. but then i sold a m35 for $26,000 on ebay a few years ago.

it's amazing how much crap people believe. ok,maybe the 465 can put out 400-500 hp for 5 or 6 seconds. so what? we need a reliable engine that will run for 100,000 miles minimum. it ain't gonna happen. if you use a different block, different heads, crank, pistons, rods, etc, it is not the same...
grease liquifies in wheel brngs with the heat. if grease was best for a steering box, don't you think the mfg would have used it? most steering boxes with the sector and worm design have sliding action of the pins that moves the grease away and it stays away. deuce boxes have pins mounted on...
they are meant to have 90 wt oil. grease won't leak out, but it won't lube it either. of course, since these trucks were meant to last only 8 years, there was no need to make the seal removable while in the truck. duh. but really, it's not that hard to remove the box and fix it right.

i seriously doubt the multifuel would ever make 300 hp. it would take more rpm and we all know that is an issue. there are however several trucks around that have 200 hp at 600+ ftlbs of torque. that gives exceptional performance and ignores most hills.

if i remember correctly, the dealer here said it was only a 30 day wtty. of my 2 , 10 mth old 6tl's, one goes dead and the other is ok so far. i think they have become junk and will not buy interstate again.

you need to go back and read what i said, then learn how these unique diesel engines work. they are direct injection, but they do not just spray the fuel across the head of the piston like most.
some errors in previous posts.
2 hole injectors replaced the 1 hole. they don't spray onto the top of piston, rather into a chamber in it. oil cooling on ldt just sprays onto the piston. lds sprays into passages in the head of the piston. all considered, i have turned ldt engines up to at least...
patrick, you may want to consider a special 6000 series spicer that most people do not know of. from about 1975 to 1985 some fire equipment had .66 od 5th. when i built my cat powered truck in 2002 they were still available as well as new trans parts. if you need i can look up the trans number...
has anyone else had problems with interstate 6TL batteries? in the past they lasted for 5 - 6 years for me. in the past 2 years they do not last over 1 year even with light use.
