Thanks everyone for your help/advice. I got it back to the shop. One of the cables was missing insulation and was arcing on the inside frame. Got it running (running better than before), but now the gauges are a little iffy. Doesn't seem to be charging and the oil pressure gauge says 0-. It's...
The fact there there is not even power to the panel light tells me there is something somewhere that's tripped or burned out. We are headed home. Thanks for you help Guyfang.
No...just basic tools. It ran perfectly...but I stopped for new 51R batteries and let one of my employees I brought hook up the new ones. He said it sparked, he pulled the connection off and came and got me. I switched the cables correctly and there is nothing.
Yes, they are in correctly now. Still no power. He said it sparked a lot when he tried to connect the last terminal. I came in corrected the cables and there is nothing.
I let someone install new batteries and they put them on backwards. Gen will not start. PLEASE tell me there's a fuse somewhere! We are at the scene of a tornado here in Texas (Laguna Heights) trying to lend a hand.
Who in Humveedom has information on a cross-over for a Stanadyne IP - DB2831-6278? This is for a non-turbo 6.5L on a M1097R 4 speed. Someone offered me a new DB2831-6282 for $600, but I've been told that's for a turbo.
Thank you. The engine is no longer seized. Turning over very well now. Just need to put the new plugs in (but first get the broken electrode part out of cylinder #2).
Just gunna ask...what happens if the I can't get the broken piece out of the pre chamber (cylinder #2)? My mech friend at Fort Sam says it won't hurt anything...
Okay...we pulled the glow plugs (three of them broke off due to swelling) and filled each hole up each with 50/50 Marvel oil and AFT. Do I need to attempt to extract the broken plug ends before I try and turn this over? If so, what is the best way to get those MF's out?
My county is Medina county and they work with me on a lot of titles on humvees, but they can only do so much. I am 12 miles West of San Antonio (Mico).
Yes, a three speed. The block casting number ending in 506 (12555506) leads me to believe it's a 1994, 1995, or 1996. But then my DMV won't care about that....lol
