    Any Maryland members around?

I should have added this to my last post... Gulfway does not have any mileage restrictions. Also, they do not require that the vehicles be kept in a locked garage, as many other policies that cater to collectors do. They do have a restriction against using the truck as a true commercial...

    Any Maryland members around?

Yes, they are all tagged historic except the M916A1 since it is too new (1994). It has commercial tags on it. Gulfway offers a commercial vehicle insurance policy.

    Any Maryland members around?

    I use Gulfway...about $650 for six trucks...ranging from an M151A2 and an M1028A2 to an M925A2 and an M916A1/M916.

What is the lowest temp your deuce started in

I've started my M35A3 at zero degrees with a sniff of ether. I've started CUCVs down in the low teens. I've started my M925A2 in the upper teens. I try to avoid starting my trucks in the cold (below 32 degrees) unless I absolutely have to use them for something.

    M818 from Michigan to Maryland

Check with DECODEME. He lives in MD and had a few reasonable M818s for sale the last time I checked. You would be able to test drive them.

    Leg/Landing gear/Wheel

CUCVFAN has the mil-spec crank up landing legs. I bought one. They are not cheap, but they are the real deal...really stout and they work well.

what should i do. drive or haul it.

I agree with MUDGUPPY. Get it shipped.

    M925 vs M35A3 speeds?

You can plan on 60 MPH with an M925A1. An M35A3 tops out about 57 MPH, but I would NEVER plan to drive it that fast for any distance IF I wanted the CAT engine to last. Also, since water is fairly heavy, you are better off with a 5 ton chassis anyway.

    Jim Henry Surplus - NC

I, too, have had great dealings with Jim. He is a stand up guy. I enjoy dealing with him.

    Vinyl cargo cover failed seam

Not sure what you guys paid...and I realize it is for a 5 ton, not a deuce...but DECODEME has 5 ton cargo covers WITH bows for like $400. They are brand new in the crate. I bought one for my M925A2. They are not correct for a deuce, but they will fit if that is the best you can find...

    M817 Transmission Grinding

I have purchased new, unused transmissions for anywhere from $700-1,000. Call the dealers. Start with John Winslow, Dave Newman, and White Owl...then move to TNJ Murray, Clark, Memphis, etc. Many came out surplus about a year ago. You should be able to find one. If you do a complete rebuild...

    Oshkosh rebuild?

The OP is referring to a surplus truck dealer (Oshkosh Equipment), not to be mistaken for Oshkosh Trucks that produces the HEMTT, amongst other trucks. I have no idea what OE does to their trucks. Google them or PM them. OE is a member here.

    New gal from NY

Regarding CARNAC's post, my first move anytime I get a CUCV is to swap out the glow plugs, whether they work or not, with non-swelling glow plugs. It will save you a headache later!;)

    Towing M915A1 Backwards with Truhitch

I believe James told me previously that the tru-hitch increases the weight on the front wheels. I am sure James will chime in to further describe this.

    M172A1 wood deck restoration...?

PB, that is a great suggestion. I never thought of it. Thanks for sharing!

    Redstone Arsenal loadout problem

I was going to suggest what DH said...local wrecker company.

    m1028 locker

I have an M1028A2 that was converted from an M1028 by the military (data plate on the door jam says this). It DOES NOT have a locker in the rear. A friend, who is also on SteelSoldiers, had an M1028A2...his was missing the locker, too. Apparently, some of them were produced WITHOUT...

    NO LONGER Wrecked wrecker

    wow I got one (M915A1)

In terms of what stands in your way, add to your list the fact that they only have load-outs once a month at Topeka according to the GL rep there. So, if your EUC clears after the guy was there that month, prepare to wait a bit longer. I have heard that on occasion the guy has been there more...
