If anyone wants one, contact CUCVFAN who has the correct military crank up landing leg that allows you to upgrade your M101 or M101A2 to M101A3 standards as far as the landing leg is concerned. It does not have a wheel on it. I bought one and it works perfectly. Man, does it make a difference...
Why not just get it trucked home? I MAPQUESTed your trip home (d***, there are six towns in NC named Concord) so I am not sure the exact mileage. One of the towns named Concord is 275 miles away, although some of the others are a bit closer. So, at two dollars a mile you are looking at $550...
Two-man lift? Sure, they are heavy...and I am not bragging...but one man does what one man needs to do. I owned an M172A1 with ramps and loaded them plenty of times after having loaded my M548A1. They are HEAVY, but, if you get the front of the ramp on the trailer, then tip up the rear end...
My reco...get it shipped. Get it home and THEN learn about it. You are not far from there, which is probably why you are tempted to drive it out. The same logic applies to shipping. Since you are not far, it won't be that expensive and since you got such a good deal, you still won't have...

Jeff, the SS courier system is magic. Perhaps, we could get it hauled up your way if you are not in a hurry. If you are interested, hit the list with a request. There are guys coming north often. Good luck.
P.S. I am d*** close to scrapping this trailer, unfortunately. I probably should just keep it, but I will never use it given all the other trailers I have.
I have a complete M332 with nice paint that I'd part with for $250. This trailer is nice. I'd keep it, except it is backed into a garage behind like three other trailers and I need to move some stuff out to get to the rest. Part it out or just buy it and keep it intact. NO TITLE...unless you...
With regards to looking unique, it definitely will. With regards to maintaining a somewhat original appearance...I suppose "somewhat" is the key word. If you mean that it would look like a military truck except for the hood, then I suppose it would look "somewhat" original. My question...
Reverse engineering at its finest. The MTVR copy is definitely just that, but at least it looks a little different. The HEMTT clone is almost identical! Pretty pathetic in my opinion.
I should have clarified this in my original post. By "underpowered," I mean that the military never spec'ed their 5 ton trucks out with the most powerful motors known to mankind. They chose motors that could handle the desired loads mainly off-road. Off-road means lower speeds. These trucks...
The tires look cool. I love the XZLs. Also, nice paint job so far. Here's what I can tell you about how it will drive with the 1600s and all of that weight...it is going to be a pig. Wreckers...M62, M543, M816, M936 (the more common variants that collectors tend to own)...are ALL underpowered to...
