Sounds like you have carboned up the exhaust and the valves are hanging open.
I have purchased several sets in that condition and found the easiest way to repair is to remove the rocker arm covers , rockers and injectors.
Fabricate and adapter so you can put air pressure into the cylinder...
As soon as I read the control panel area was concaved I was sure you were going to report the panel was damaged or not working, BUT it looks like you actually got a nice score.
It will be interesting to hear how you make out with it, but as long as you got it for what you consider a reasonable...
I'll have to take a look next time I'm there.... probably later today :)
I use them for 95% of my automotive parts ( wife owns a car dealership and I'm the Free mechanic )
The Wholesale guys at my local store are great, known them since I was like 14.
It was not safety stripe if I recall, I...
On the O'riley 1/8" line, if you are talking about the 1/8" high pressure fuel line it works but is very difficult to get over the original T-fittings.
Use a dab of grease on the fittings to help. The original line was 3.5mm which is slightly larger than 1/8"
If you are replacing the T-fittings...
Yea, LITD and I were joking about that guy when he originally listed that machine for $9999!
I put it on my watch list just for giggles and a week later he offered it to me at a bargain price of $7999, Don't know why I didn't jump on it!
I think maybe he has his decimal in the wrong spot...
I'm looking at one now and I see std. on the piston, but don't see a PN. ( maybe I need to look closer )
It came out of an MEP-002A that I parted out recently. Very clean piston and rod. even the rod bearings look great, but can sell you whatever you want.
Shoot me a PM.
I'll go $501! (y)
As the others said, they are worth WAY more if you can show them running.
however, with a machine that has been sitting that long, improper attempts to start it may do more damage than anything else.
Don't just throw batteries in them and try cranking, you will surely destroy...
I wouldn't be too concerned with those marks.
Give the cylinder a little hone and it will be fine, if you can't feel it.
Let me know if you need the piston or anything, I have a couple still on the rods.
Good thinking, and I have been contemplating a similar situation.
I work for a company in RI that designs Lottery equipment.
We purchased a company in Reno NV several years ago, that builds Gaming equipment and now builds some of our Lottery terminals.
Prior to Covid... I used to fly to Reno...
The trick I use for 80X machines in trucks is that I purchased 4 6' x 1" wide lift straps.
I loop 1 end through the D-rings then through the eye on the other end of the strap to cinch 1 end around the ring.
Then bring all 4 straps together and secure the 4 eyes to a shackle etc. then lift from...
Hey... my P.O.S F250 with 230K is an XL model and I have an 002 and 003 I intend to keep as my own.
I would not buy the Platinum pickup, nor the Cummins 1040 for the exact same reasons.
Both are nice when they are working correctly but in an emergency situation I want to be able to fix my...
Exactly! When the time comes you will prefer the noise over not having electricity!
I would tend to agree with the enclosure thought.
I have had 002's and 003's with the ASK enclosure and it does make a big difference, but it pretty much blocks access to everything.
Building a small enclosure...
Yes, The 2x AGM batteries is probably the route we are going to take. We still need 12V for the rest of the tractor's electrical and I have previously use 2 18/21AH batteries ( emergency lighting and jump pack batteries ) to power my 831 instead of the costly 24V battery that it requires and...
You've kind of got me thinking.... My truck is getting a bit tired ( 230K on an 08 F250 5.4L with cracked exhaust manifold and recent transmission shudder ) and I wouldn't feel comfortable driving cross country.
I also have an uncle in Oregon ( mother's brother ) who I haven't seen since I was...
Not a bad idea! I've never driven cross country ( and never will with my current truck ) ;) But it would be a memorable experience.
He has come with me on quite a few gen. recoveries but only as far away as Chambersburg PA. and FT Drum in NY.
This past weekend's project was spreading 60yds...
God, if it wasn't on the other side of the states I'd be interested too! I need another 005 to work on for fun!
As for price it is totally dependent on condition. It looks to be a nice machine from the outside but don't know about hours, running condition IP condition etc.
They sell at the...
