    M1070 HET hill climb

A few tons of weight on the rear would have helped a lot.

First recovery from Ft. Leonard Wood, made it home

The super single tire and rim weighs about 500 pounds and you have to know how to disassemble the CTIS to get the tire off. Many of the parts are made of pot metal and will break in a heartbeat if that heavy assembly hits them wrong. If you have a catastrophic tire failure, very common if the...

First recovery from Ft. Leonard Wood, made it home

Chase vehicle, cell phone, credit card with very high limit, contact numbers of fellow members on your route back, proof of insurance and print out of TM (not the whole thing, just troubleshooting tips).

Deuce with 6v92T Detroit and transmission.....????

I would stick with a standard with the "Yamaha". The automatic won't keep those RPM's up when you need them. When you lose it with a Detroit you lose it. They fall flat on their face quick. You can shift the big Allison automatics but they will lug the crap out of the Cummins if you don't watch...

"How to get a HET in life..." - M1070 Acquisition thread

Try navigating an M927 towing a van trailer. The bobtail HETT has a pretty good turning radius due to the rear axle steering.

Deuce with 6v92T Detroit and transmission.....????

I once drove a Freightliner with a 318 Driptroit in it. On level ground it ran like a striped arsed ape. If you said "hill" on the CB radio it would drop 20MPH. I'm not sure a Detroit is the best engine for climbing hills. The only way to get anything out of a Detroit is to run it up against...

Georgia Ice and Snow Chains or no chains?

The issues are: On sheet ice the only thing that might help are studded tires. Chains may or may not dig in and give you traction. Even if you have traction and can move what about all the other people that can't move and end up blocking the road. You can't just push them out of the way...

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

    Why was the video disabled?

5-Ton M923-what is this in the cab?

They were prob removed so it could be hauled on a regular flat bed verses a step deck. With those removed and the windshield down they could get two of them on a flatbed.

"How to get a HET in life..." - M1070 Acquisition thread

I'm still kicking myself for not taking out a loan and getting one of the HETT's out of Columbus. They went cheap and were within driving distance.auaauaaua

Who is the genny go to guy?

DAMIFINO. I guess I should have asked him. We picked them up yesterday and I know that they are small gennys with single cylinder engines.

My first recovery effort !! Monday 2/10/14... m923a2 battery question !!

Even if the truck slaves off you might not have enough juice coming out of the alternator to provide you with brake lights, etc. Driving it with dead batteries can kill the alternator. You can use two batteries but make sure you wire them up right and connect the small wires correctly.

    Georgia USMC Wreckers

Most sales have preview windows unless it is an unmanned site. You can make an appointment and do your preview (usually accompanied by a GL employee) for lots you are interested in. There are members here that do previews and recoveries at locations for a fee (myself included). We also have...

    Georgia USMC Wreckers

You guys do know some of those were residue trucks right? They rebuilt trucks at that location and those were prob left over after they quit the 900 series rebuild program. This was similar to all the trucks being sold out of Camp Shelby. They rebuilt them there also. There were some diamonds...

Who is the genny go to guy?

Me?????? You don't get out much do ya? I'm on just about every day. Very seldom on this thread since I only have one jenny and never use it because it sucks the bottom out of the fuel tank.

Who is the genny go to guy?

My buddy and I just picked up two 3KW jennys yesterday. He got one running today but the other has a fuel issue (no fuel from pump to injector). It has the Onan engine in it. He has downloaded the TM but it does not address that issue. Could someone willing to assist PM me their contact...

    Holy Cow Batman !!!

If that wrecker had all the BII and is a runner it's not too bad a price. The engine looked new even though there was 20k on the clock. Bottom line is that it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

What is this? I really want one

Looks Korean...if so it will never meet import emissions.

My second score !! The mad hatter !!! m923a2 with ROPS !!

That thing would make a freight train take a dirt road. Still got a cool factor though. Been awhile since I was at Stewart....you're on your own.
