Welcome to the site. There are several fire department guys on here. I'm sure they will chime in. The A2 is going to be a lot easier to roll over due to it's higher center of gravity.
How do you purge all the 10wt out? I replaced my 10wt with Dextron but have not driven the truck much because the transfer case is bad. When I drained the 10wt I let all of it drain out (kept the plug out a long time until nothing was coming out of the drain hole).
Insight please.
The first deuce I bought had a "Red Neck Gun Ring Cutout" made from a 55 gallon drum with the removable ring top. Looked like crap but it worked. If I can find the pics I'll post them.
A "Johnny Bar", Hand Valve or Trolley Brake is a lever located on the right side of the steering column that allows you to put air on the trailer brakes without depressing the brake pedal. When pulling multiple trailers ("wiggle wagons") it allows you to put air on the trailers and hold them...
If you try to pull a 40 foot connex with a deuce and dolly you are going to be very unhappy.
The standard deuce engine has around 140 HP on a good day. Even if you swapped an LDS that has around 200 HP you are still going to be a toad in the road.
Unless you have a lot of ballast in the bed...
We have a member now that is a dispatcher with Landstar. He has never failed to get a truck to me on time when I was loading out vehicles for members here. PM for contact info.
Myself and CSMdavis have had this discussion. Prob doable if you have good fab skills and a shop. As for the clutch issue you could use a hydraulic clutch setup instead of mechanical linkage. Swapping the axles do use air brakes might be an issue as you would need all the lines and plumbing. You...
I'm baby sitting a couple of trucks for a fellow member and I had to charge all the batteries in one of them. Since I have two chargers I set them up in the cab and charged two at a time. I took the cables off, cleaned the terminals and slow charged them overnight. I used a multi-meter to make...
I guess there are few among us that have never hit a point so low that we thought about prematurely terminating our life force. I had not seen this post before and was unaware of what was going on with our brother member.
I'm sure there are a lot of folks that knew him personally that are...
If you have ever had to recharge batteries in the cab or remove/install them you know it is a real PITA due to the weight of the original TL's. I plan to relocate the ones in my M927A2 and M923A3. This also allows you to remove the bench seat and install a twin air rides and a center console if...
There is no telling when that truck was turned in to DRMO to be surplused out. I would advise going to a truckstop and picking up whatever they sell to keep fuel from gelling. This issue you are going to have is that (1) the fuel may already be gelled up in the filters and lines and (2) the fuel...
My two best M816 days were the day I unloaded it off the truck and the day I watched a civilian wrecker haul it off. The 250 is a turd engine with little or no way to increase power. If you turn the fuel to it you will either melt it down on a long pull or blow a head gasket.
They weigh about...
Grimlins. A lot of them do that and there is no good answer. Deuces do it to......my uneducated guess is that when the air system charges up it sends air through the system causing the wipers to cycle.
When I had several deuces I did a bob job on one and really liked it. The Boss Lady is still PO'd that I got rid of it.
One modification I seriously considered was making the front end flip forward like the 900 series trucks. I absolutely hated hanging upside down while perched on the fender...
