What "switch ground"? Did you mean battery negative? I have to agree with coug, it sounds like you've connected the +24v power to the converter to the neutral start line. You want to pick up power from the 27A lead. This will be hot whenever the truck is running.
The service lights run thru the trailer connector too. Everything on the trailer has to work with everything on the truck. With the hood connector undone and the connector on the turn signal switch disconnected you can read the resistance of the rear lamps thru the trailer receptacle. As long as...
Got to agree with Steve about the steering boxes but pumps fail and they'll scream bloody murder if they have air in them. Hydraulic fluid doesn't compress but air sure does. With the front end off the ground and the engine at idle run the steering from side to side and see if you can work out...
If the problem is in the lighting system all of those lights can be unplugged for testing. Unplug the side marker lights because they're the easiest to get to and see if your problem is there. If the problem still exists I'd disconnect the taillights. There is no rear harness connector in the...
There's no need to use the centering washers on all of the wheel bolts. If you put 4 of then on a 24 bolt wheel they'll do the job just as well as if you put 24 of them on it. Space them out every 6 lugs and you'll be fine.
Found this animated video on You Tube that demonstrates how the fan clutch works. It explains a lot about it that's hard to understand because it works differently that most people expect because of it's fail safe operation.
I removed the first video I linked to because it just wasn't accurate...
When I first got my truck years ago it had the normal set of fan problems and I installed a switch along the left side of the dash with a 3 way switch on it that allows me to operate either in always on, always off or normal cycle modes. It's a simple wiring change to the TDM.
I have the pushbutton switch in mine only because I'm too lazy to put the old 3 lever switch back in. It's worked without and problems for years now but the thing I hate about it is that you have to look at it to operate it and that can be difficult if your driving. The 3 lever switch is...
The Master Light Switch is either in Service mode or Blackout mode. After lifting the Lock lever you move the topmost lever to the left for Blackout mode or to the right for Service mode. So if you've moved the top lever 1 detent to the right it's in "Service Stoplight" mode, 2 detents to the...
Did you check to make sure the O-ring in the separator housing was good? Just had a similar problem on a friends truck after replacing the filter. You could also have air leaking in thru the water separator pressure switch. You might put one of those glass body fuel filters in the line after...
Lionel, could you do some research and post the numbers for the aluminum kits here? I've never heard of them before in all the years I've played with these things.

The technical manuals for the HMMWV are available here on SS and half a dozen other places online. Download them and learn how to use them. 98% of the situations your going to experience with your truck have been identified and have been documented in...
The early Protective Control Box (PCB) used a Glow Plug Controller (GPC) on the water crossover manifold to determine engine temperature and make the decision to either heat the glow plugs or not. The Newer ESSS boxes use a Temperature Control Unit (TCU) to do the same thing but the 2 pieces...
Download a copy of the -20 TM and go thru the start troubleshooting section. TMs are free on plenty of sites in the internet and here on the SS Forums. The Technical Manuals are written for a base level mechanic and will walk you through the known issues related to starting. They probably cover...
This problem has been around since they first began using these turn signal switches. What we need is for someone to start 3D metal printing these things and get rid of the plastic cancelling rings that continue to fail.
