1. Crazy awesome project, I echo the above sentiments in enjoying unusual projects.
2. Had no idea Cushmans were available with sidecars. Clintogf will never leave me alone about one now.
In 1994, a bunch of guys swam the English Channel with their DUKW's, arriving at Normany for the celebrations. I strongly recommend any of you who love DUKWs to take your Ritalin and enjoy the entire video. It's awesome sauce...
I'll bet a cold beer your hard start issue is a bad starter switch.
The rotary switch has been discussed here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?64641-Start-Switch

The rotary switches are...
If you can hear the pump spinning but it's not sending fuel to the filters, it may have lost it's shims:

Start with that.
On to the push switch: When you check it with the multimeter, you need to make sure it's flowing the right...
I agree the waterproof stuff is outlandishly priced, but in my experience, it literally lasts forever. It's not like you're going to be replacing the wires every 2 years.
Yes, in fact, Peashooter's M109A3 is a contract truck with dual circuit brakes.

I friend of mine here in Ga has one as well.
I absolutely love these things but I think without the entire rig (both powered units and the trailer) they're kind of ..................................err, incomplete. It would be like owning a battleship bit with all the turrets removed.
@ $20K, they're gonna' be looking at it for the rest...
I think either E22 or Maddawg are right. It has to be the 757 or the MANN's. What else did we have that was 8x8 at the time?
I doubt he's thinking of those ginormous nuke hauler things form the Fifties. I don't think they were ever deployed outside of Western Europe.
The Army refers to it as a "liner".
TM 9-2320-209-3-2. Section 14.
Flap (liner) goes in between the tire and tube so the tube doesn't chafe against the tire and leak.

Airpack first, then start at the wheel cylinder furthest away and work your way towards the airpack (right rear, left rear, right middle, left middle, right front, left front).
Build a bleeder-it's so fast it's absurd. You'll never do it the old way again, I promise.
Ya'll that are having a hard time finding what you need, post up here:
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?58151-trouble-searching
I'll (or someone) will find it and tell you how they found it.
I can't remember where I found this, but one of the manuals has the load rating for the pintle itself-the NSN for the deuce pintle says it's (the pintle, not the truck itself) is rated for something astonishing like 15 or 20 tons. I'll look tonight and see if I can find it.
Go put some soapy water in a squirt bottle and let air pressure build up. Shut the engine off, make sure the truck is chocked and in gear, parking brake applied and crawl under it with a flashlight, spray the soapy solution on all the air lines, the airpack, etc. and find the leak.
Absolutely. This is exactly what I'd do.
Do keep in mind that with air brakes, your trailer only has brakes with your deuce, but with electric brakes, it has brakes with your Ram 2500 and your deuce (once you've added a trailer brake controller).
