Believe me, it was a welcome interruption.
I haven't driven it yet. I gotta change the oil tomorrow and drive it and see how it is. All I've done is heard it start and idle for a few minutes.
If it still leaks, it's gotta' be something bad, since I've done everything.
It was a lot of fun having Phil and the boys over, it gave me an excuse to chat and stop working on this stupid hydraulic head. rofl
You guys are always welcome here.
North Ga. has a lot going for it. If we can help in any way, let us know.
Ok, the final description of what was wrong.
Much thanks to gimpyrobb, squirt truck and doghead. I can not tell the three of you how much I appreciate your help. Much thanks to floridianson, welldigger and rayzer as well. I appreciate the info.
I decided to (based on some advice) to put the...
Okay I got it to top dead center on the compression stroke and I verified the timing mark on the bouncer and in the advance unit in the injection pump.
See:
Oh, tapatalk won't let me put the pics where I want. Look below.
So I pull off the fuel shutoff cover and I see that the plunger is...
Ok, so I just put it all back together and tried to start it and it definitely will not run. It will run on silicon as long as I sprayed into the intake but as soon as you take it away it dies.
Since I had it running for several seconds, I'm gonna assume I don't have any issues with air or the...
OK, I need some clarification on timing one of these.
Backstory: My '87 M35A2C w/LDT was brewing it's own oil. Tested the booster pump right before 13SSGR and found it was leaking, so I replaced the seal. Truck continues to brew it's own oil, so now I am removing the flame heater & replacing...
If you indeed have the sprag transfer, there are several threads which detail how to diagnose/adjust them. If you go through the procedure and the front axle still does not engage, the sprag is worn out and must be replaced. At this point, I'd upgrade the truck to an air shift as tie6044...
Welting was used. It was a rubber flap similar to the hardtop-to-cab seal. You'll probably have to fabricate something, I've never seen the correct ones for sale.
Moving the air cleaner probably won't make a lot of difference to the temp and if it does, the cooler air will still have to...
If you have both front fenders off, I'd go ahead and pull the hood and:
Rebuild or replace hood hinges
Rebuild or reseal steering box
Repaint engine compartment
Paint cab where the fenders meet
Carefully inspect entire fuel system and replace any hoses/lines that are...
Wanted: Classifieds Section Moderator
The classifieds section is beginning to get a little ragged-too much chit chat, threads/posts not deleted once the item is sold (or found!), etc. We have discussed this and we feel the best course of action is a dedicated, classifieds section moderator...
A 0540 prefix is almost guaranteed to be a 1972 model.

I've seen Reckless' deuce in person and I can assure you, these pictures don't do it justice. It is a world class crewcab conversion and the interior is awesome.
I am deeply saddened by Boatie's passing. He was really a founding member of the site-he joined when the site membership was probably in the hundreds and participated in most of those early, groundbreaking threads where the new community was trying to lay down a foundation of knowledge. He was...
I like the LEDs in that they are really bright.
However, when they burn out they're done. Lot more expensive than a bulb.
The other downside is that the taillights (not sure about the front turn signals) aren't as visible if you're looking at them from an angle. If you're directly behind...
