Ok, it's not me. It is getting cold here in Conn on some mornings. When I first start out in the morning, leaving the parking space, I can hear the trans "whining" a bit. It only lasts for a few hundred yards. It also seems like the trans wants to hold second gear for longer than normal when...
Diesel keeps for a long time, just add some Bio-cide and no worries long term. Gas goes bad quickly, so if you don't run the genset on a regular basis and keep adding fuel, that could be an issue.
I will be looking for a small 3-5KW diesel genset shortly. Plus, the mil spec diesels are under...
Yeah, I always disconnect all of them on these trucks. You just can't remove the negative cable and be done with it. If you don't remove all the connections, you'll get a nasty little surprise !
Shipmates, I meant no disrespect with regards to this mod and admit that I probably could have chosen different words for the title. It wasn't meant to mislead anyone. After tons of reading on this site, one of the must do's for any CUCV is the Doghead Mod..........I am 100% on board with...
I don't know what statement you are referring to, but I did the mod, it failed and now I am looking for answers as to why. A "crappy relay" may indeed be the cause of the "failure".
I am asking questions and seeking answers, not making a statement, but thank you for the relay check advice.

Went to NAPA and got the correct...
I get heat and plenty of it, but thanks for the simple explanation of the heater core removal. I copied and saved that !!
It was about 25 degrees here yesterday morning and the heat came up in less time then it does in my TDI VW Golf. It is the fan output and the amount of flow across...
Money is tight, like that's a big secret !!!
Anyway, a few things have come up and left me a little "cash challenged" for a few weeks That said, I still need to do a few things to the 1009. I just did the Doghead mod, but I really need shocks.
I know there has been some discussion on this...
I was wondering if anyone has changed out, beefed up or augmented the stock 1009 heater system to provide a quicker defrost of the front windshield. My 1009 seems to warm up quicker than my TDI Golf (@ about 4-5 miles @ 45 mph the heat comes up), but not if I am idling waiting for the frost to...
